Liverpool Thread - 2022/23

They did have an interesting thread about expected points, where someone classified games by the expected result and how much better or worse than those expected results the top six clubs were doing. So if they had us down for a draw at Arsenal, and we won, we'd be 2 points up.

So out of 38 games, they might say Liverpool would win 28, draw 7 and lose 3 for example. Any deviation from that would impact the expected points. There's 114 points available and I guess they were looking at Liverpool getting 94 on expected results. But those expected results would have seen wins at Fulham and v Palace. That means they're 4 off so far.

I understand that but I'm struggling with the rest. I can only assume they think that the more we win in the short term, the more we'll drop points over the longer term, as they're expecting us to drop, say, 20 over the season.

Fucking heck my head hurts. Glad I just watch the game and don’t fret like a tart.

To be fair, a much easier and to be honest, a more simpler calculation regarding aiming to win the league would be to just basically win your home games and aim to pick up 3 points away at the newly promoted clubs for starters..

However, I see that the dippers appear to have fcuked this formula up a tad after just 2 games..!

How about finish 1 point above everyone else, can’t get any more simple than that ..

Unless you ate a dipper..!

Its frightening over there...you cant tell me they're not deranged...from the Palace thread...

" Worrying that we’ve spent 4 points from our 20 point reserve, hopefully we can regain 6 points so we’re up to 22 points. Man City have a bank of minus 4 points though so if they lose more points, a negative plus a negative is a positive. So ideally we need them to keep winning, it’d be annoying to see them increase that bank by losing games. If we take their average points total of the last two seasons, add our 20 point bank, delete their bank, and then maybe see if Arsenal or Spurs have a bank that we can borrow, then we can drop 24 more points"

Brilliant - tomorrow I’m going £200 overdrawn then spending £210 on my card “a negative plus a negative is a plus“ - I should be £10 in credit next morning!

No wonder City asked you to step down as a City Matters Rep. It's obviously taking it's toll on you, and you've gone all RAWKish and Scouse. ;-)
