I live only seven miles away but don't go to Blackpool very often. Anyway I went there a couple of week's back just for a potter about. It was great. The sun was shining, the tide was in, the prom was packed. I have been in hospital a lot recently (better now) so it was just nice to chill out in the sun There were lots of families, lots of City shirts (did not see one United top all day), everyone was smiling, what's not to like. I know it is a different story after dark but Blackpool gets a lot of unfair criticism in my view. Lytham is even better but a lot posher.
Love the North pier

Not sure if this has been posted, but there's an interesting visual timeline of the problems at the Champions League final. I know many on here will have no sympathy, and, yes, fake tickets would have been one contributing factor, but it looks pretty grim, and in no way adequate for the amount of fans coming through.

I'd recommend watching, and at least trying to be objective, and considering whether the average Liverpool fan in that queue could have done much to avoid the situation.

The problem there was the people with the fake tickets were already in the ground so anyone with the same ticket and seat were refused entry! Also the policing and the hard handed approach was a disgrace and seems to happen when English teams go away in europa

The way the LFC fans were treated was disgusting but no surprise to anyone who has travelled to watch a football match in France. The French police are fucking useless at crowd control and the Spanish police are only marginally better. Germany and Denmark (our next away trips) are much safer places with better police. I believe the forged tickets was a red herring.
The one lesson I have learned from following City away in Europe (on 22 occasions) is you should usually ignore the so-called official advice and use your own common sense. You have to avoid wearing colours, you have to get up to the stadium very early (sometimes visit the day before to suss out decent places to eat and drink), mingle in with their fans as much as possible so you just look like a typical CL tourist fan. The last thing you want is to be organised into an obvious group of away fans. That just makes you a target. Anyone on here who remembers going away to matches in this country in the hooligan days will know how dangerous it was to be in a recognised group.
If we get to the CL Final this year you can be sure that Istanbul will be carnage because the policing and the stadium itself is not fit for purpose. People need to be smarter if they want to watch games abroad.

Anybody going to Blackpool then get yourselves down to "Kings and Queens" on Central pier, hottest show in town, you won't be disappointed.

The scouse accent was generally a lot softer initially and certainly so in the 60s/ 70s. More of a Lennon tone than anything , it's become much harsher over the last decade or so. I genuinely know of no one who speaks like Gerrard or Carragher.
Surely it's just confined to the enclave of two dogs
