Liverpool v City 1st leg CL Qtr Final post match

Ok, so feel just as shit as last night. That was an absolute horror show no doubt about it. Even though some players were worse than others, they were collectively shocking. Bad call by Pep as well with the line up I have to say. Liverpool had a simple plan and we had no answers. The damage was obviously done in the 1st half and I really thought it was going to be 5 or 6 at one point. 2nd half they eased off and we probed with little effect. To not test their goalie for the entire match is criminal for this teams supposed abilities. This is the 2nd season in succession where we've come undone against inferior opposition in this competetion. Anway, there is a massive chance for redemption on Sat and we need to take it. As for Tuesday I don't think we could perform any worse than last night. I think we will win and I think we could spank them. However, the pathetic performance last night will probably be our undoing, with the away goal scenario being critical.

He won it with a once in a century team though. He’ll never be able to replicated his Barca side. Got hammered by real and Barca when he was at bayern. Playing this way you’ll always get exposed by the teams with top class attacks. The only way to prevent it is by having 11 elite players. Kompany, otamendi, walker they’re all good players who crumble when pressed. Replace them with Pique Mascherano and Alves and you’d see us playing a lot better. Actually think Laporte should’ve played with Stones yesterday.

Before the game, I would have said not a chance. With hindsight, it could have worked. Then again, it could have been a disaster

The luvk was with liverpool. Every ricochet and bounce fell to them. Borderline decisions went their way not ours.

The first goal was key. They got it and we got rattled.

Gundogan in the middle was an awful tactical switch by Pep. He was completely overrun by their energetic midfield. The switch to get De Bruyne in there for the second half made us so much better. We were lopsided though, walker had nothing in front of him and laporte did not support Sane enough.

Bernardo for Sterling would have been a logocal switch from the weekend due to the Anfield factor. But not Gundogan.

It is half time and it is a huge task. I cannot see us keeping a clean sheet but you never know. We cans core 5 against them and 5-1 would do it!

I like your posts Armaan, but you can't be right on this occasion and we should not expect or even want Pep to change. What he has managed to do with this group of players in a relatively short space of time is out of this world, he believes in them and i think we should as well. These games are always a toss of the coin, but if you want to play the percentages and try and nullify the opposition rather than think about your own strengths, you'll end up with you know who.

We looked totally confused with the tactics caused by the Gundo inclusion, absolutely no closing down and retaining the ball, why abandon all we have done this season for a bad 10 mins in the last encounter, Pep has received a lot of praise this season and rightfully so but this seemed down to him and the coach attack.
They should receive a long ban from Europe until they prove this is no longer going to happen.
10-20 years would do me and then only then proven good behaviour

We have to swing from no shots on target to score 4 goals, at least. When I put it like that, it shows how unlikely a comeback is.

It is certainly doable, though. That lot are emotionally incontinent, if we score early them will get carried away and try and score in response which could leave them open
Like a true City fan you've gone from talking yourself out of it to saying there's hope, that's not a dig by the way, your post just sums up a typical City fans thought process lol

How do people think we would have fared if we’d have drawn any of the top 3? Similar performance and result or is it just Liverpool we struggle with??

I understand your point, but respectfully disagree. You have to have a plan b, you just have to. Peps style as I’ve said before has been hammered in the CL by Barca, Real and now the dippers. From the first two he should’ve learnt a great deal, he’s learnt nothing. I’m not saying set up fully defensive, we just had to defend a bit deeper and force the dippers to try and pass their way to our goal.
