Looking down on 'glory hunters' is arrogance

CHEESE ALERT!!!

I honestly can't comprehend, the fact that someone can 'change teams'. I didn't choose to be a city supporter, the club chose me, (cheesy bit) in my first visit, to the area on the left corner of the kippax in the mid eighties. The place reeked of piss, the football was shite, but somehow i felt a sense of belonging. When we were in division 2, i didn't abandon my team, i was the only blue in a fucking ocean of red mates, the butt of jokes for years. That's what i take for granted everyone does surely?

I mean, if your kid was a promosing 100 metres runner and had an accident, that would render them unable to run, you wouldn't put them in care and follow little jimmy next door, as he is a good runner too?

I completely identify with you glen because that's how I was raised. But I don't agree that "surely everyone" takes that for granted or that they should. There isn't one way to support a football team.

I'm 99% the above is only an example, but if you're telling me that you are as emotionally attached to City as you would be/are your own children, and that anyone else who isn't as emotionally attached isn't a "true" fan and should be looked down on, then you're one of the people I was cxalling out in the OP. It's arrogant and pretty narrow minded to assume everyone should be the same.

No, not at all. I would never 'look down' on any blue. I just don't get how someone can 'support' for example chelsea then us. I totally understand those who are 1000's + miles away, who have no emotional ties to the club, that will follow the winning and successfull team. It's those from THESE shores i allude to.

Oh and i do think that you should follow your team through thick and thin! That is what i assumed the support bit meant in supporter! If that leads you to believe that i am arrogant and narrow minded, then so be it!

What the fuck has the Meppen Walter thread got to do with the fact you are a glory hunter. You changed your team about 5 years ago. Fucking hell when are you changing again? Pathetic and Blackburn are better off without fans like you.

Yeah I was a glory hunter on those 2 away trips to plymouth....run along knob job

That's very classy a gay slang reference.

I could rant all night about the type of people Rovers fans are but there's hardly likely to be much interest on here about that.

You don't need to rant all night about the type of people Rovers fans are. We have our very own "Exhibit A" in front of us - You!

God forbid should your "New Club" end up on the rocks for whatever reason and City all of a sudden found themselves in a Leeds-of-a-few-seasons-back or a Pompey, what ever the fuck will you do then?

Probably look for the next 'up and coming' club when the going gets tough.

Absolutely this but the fool Vinjay just doesn't see it. First sign of tricky waters and he will be off supporting the next team he thinks will be successful.
As Glen said..how could ANYONE comprehend ever changing their team is beyond me. I am glad I was there through all the crappy times because now I can enjoy these times even more.

Vinjay - you are a disgrace to 95% of football fans ...

theres too many to mention glen ;-D but like many others i dont know how anyone can change theie team,it is just something i can never understand, and the people who i know that have, i dont even bother talking football to, as i dont have any interest in what they say,as it is not of any value !its the same with teetotallers(apologies to those that are)i just dont get it

Plenty of us have supported the club because of where we lived or family ties and we've supported it through thick and thin, win or lose, Premier League or League 1. We've done the proverbial wet Wednesday night at Stoke and frozen our bollocks off at Middlesbrough.

All of a sudden we're successful and there's all these people who have never done that or given us a second's thought in the past who are "fans". They were probably Chelsea fans in 2005 and Arsenal fans before that. Well we all had to start sometime and if they stick with us through the bad times then they'll have earned their right to respect.

But let's be honest - we despise the muppets from places like Northampton, Leicester, Surrey, Plymouth and other places who have hitched their wagon to the rags and I see no reason to do any different because it's City they've latched on to.

Do you mind I was born in Leicester and now live in Northampton and been suffering for 34 years (since I was 10) - that is AFTER any trophies - joined the faithful due to the fact I wasnt into football and my mate was a city fan but continued to support and have a season ticket on and off (starting the OSC in Milton Keynes with some other local blues)

I bumped into my old mate some years ago on one of these sites and did thank him for the misery he has put me through by influencing my choice all those years ago but wouldnt have changed a second it's been one hell of a ride!

The Kippax stank of piss?

Why has no-one mentioned this before?
