I honestly can't comprehend, the fact that someone can 'change teams'. I didn't choose to be a city supporter, the club chose me, (cheesy bit) in my first visit, to the area on the left corner of the kippax in the mid eighties. The place reeked of piss, the football was shite, but somehow i felt a sense of belonging. When we were in division 2, i didn't abandon my team, i was the only blue in a fucking ocean of red mates, the butt of jokes for years. That's what i take for granted everyone does surely?
I mean, if your kid was a promosing 100 metres runner and had an accident, that would render them unable to run, you wouldn't put them in care and follow little jimmy next door, as he is a good runner too?

I completely identify with you glen because that's how I was raised. But I don't agree that "surely everyone" takes that for granted or that they should. There isn't one way to support a football team.
I'm 99% the above is only an example, but if you're telling me that you are as emotionally attached to City as you would be/are your own children, and that anyone else who isn't as emotionally attached isn't a "true" fan and should be looked down on, then you're one of the people I was cxalling out in the OP. It's arrogant and pretty narrow minded to assume everyone should be the same.

Yeah I was a glory hunter on those 2 away trips to plymouth....run along knob job
That's very classy a gay slang reference.
I could rant all night about the type of people Rovers fans are but there's hardly likely to be much interest on here about that.
You don't need to rant all night about the type of people Rovers fans are. We have our very own "Exhibit A" in front of us - You!
God forbid should your "New Club" end up on the rocks for whatever reason and City all of a sudden found themselves in a Leeds-of-a-few-seasons-back or a Pompey, what ever the fuck will you do then?
Probably look for the next 'up and coming' club when the going gets tough.

All of a sudden we're successful and there's all these people who have never done that or given us a second's thought in the past who are "fans". They were probably Chelsea fans in 2005 and Arsenal fans before that. Well we all had to start sometime and if they stick with us through the bad times then they'll have earned their right to respect.
But let's be honest - we despise the muppets from places like Northampton, Leicester, Surrey, Plymouth and other places who have hitched their wagon to the rags and I see no reason to do any different because it's City they've latched on to.
