Lucas Paqueta investigated by FA for alleged betting breaches

100% a massive risk for £90m. There will be lots of question marks around him. But as others have said just trust Pep.

The panic element is going with the size of the crazy fee that is being talked about? Newcastle got 23 year old Tonali for €50m. Brighton find top players outside the PL for bargain fees. Maybe we have to spread our net wider if West ham insist on exorbitant fees?
Exactly. With the exception of Mahrez, Gundo and Grealish before this season (I may have missed one or two), the lions share of our transfer business has been to invest in younger players, well scouted, who have the potential to step up to much higher levels

And sell them 1 year later to make money,City do not buy players to sell them on at a profit 1 year later, they buy them to help bring success.

But isn't Richarlison their first choice centre forward? This isn't the Brazil of Pele or Zico

Oddly enough I've recently been watching some of Brazil's games from the last few world cups and thinking exactly the same. Some of the teams they've put out after 2006 have been shocking.

Anyway, the competition for strikers isn't the same as it is in midfield. Up front they've got Richarlison and Gabriel Jesus. That's pretty rough. Gabby has 1 goal in his last 20 caps.

But Lucas Paqueta has been preferred to the likes of Bruno and Fabinho. Those are/ were two top quality players.

We’ve consistently found young talent, and brought them on.

Yes they market is ridiculous at the moment, but it doesn’t mean we need to run with it. To be it’s got a sense of a bit of a panic buy about it, which is out of character for city.

Is he really better than Foden could be in that position?
Not so much in midfield. It takes a lot for Pep to trust a midfielder.

He controls a game better than Foden does. Foden is in the KDB mould. Pep wouldn’t want both his 8s trying risky balls continually.

He’s obsessed with control and minimising the number of transitions, as Haaland found out at half time on Friday whilst walking off the pitch.
