Lucas Paqueta investigated by FA for alleged betting breaches

And it still looks like a circumstantial case to me. All I've read is the accounts were on Paqueta island. There's 4000 people live there. Plus, IP addresses and associated locations mean very little. It might trigger an investiagation, but the bar for - possibly - banning someone for a decade would be quite high. We'll see.

They are related to Paqueta who made new accounts at the betting firm and made them bets! If found guilty he be banned from football for quite a long time as in years..

Hopefully this will be cleared up in the next week or so and we can make a bid if we choose to. Just had a look at the players section of mcfc website. As it stands we have 10 defenders, 9 midfielders with kdb and 2 attackers. That's 21 outfield players with 1 out injured for 10 outfield places. I think 1 more would be justified but for those panicking that we need numbers its a bit flappy. For those saying Perrone, Phillips etc don't count well they wouldn't be in the squad if they weren't good enough for the squad. Plus there are eds players for the carabeua Cup.

No chance this gets cleared up before the window shuts. Ivan Toney was charged just before our game in November, and he was not handed his outcome until May. He played in the meantime, as will Paqueta. And he should have the benefit of innocent until proven guilty. If it all clears away, there is a straight forward release clause, IF there is any interest there by then. Otherwise, I think that's that, for his move here.

I read somewhere that he earns £150k a week, let's say it's "only" 100k. Why the hell should you be into betting or let your family members to bet and take the risk? Do you short in money? You make more in a week than other people make in two years.
If I was guessing and I may be completely wrong it might not even be for personal gain but to help friends or possibly dubious acquaintances who threaten him.

I only bet (if I ever have one these days) on bookings, corners, time of goal etc rather than a win or loss. My father in law is in to his horses and he has a footy bet on win, lose or draw at times but he will bet £10 to win £1, I only tend to bet on odds of 3/1 or more (this goes back to my poker playing days).
I can remember having a bet on SWP to score first and city to win 4-1 (can’t remember who we played) the odds were 450/1! You can’t get close, anywhere near close, to that these days lol. So the specials give better odds for me.
i‘ll add though, I bet once in a while and sometimes not for months. I also tend to bet on televised games. My only horse bets are the grand national.
On a side note… I won’t say who as they’ve all retired and moved back to their native countries, but I’ve been lucky enough to be very close friends to some very well known footballers in my life, I’ve been to casino’s with them plenty of times, played poker weekly with them and I’ve seen them bet £££’s over who’s ice cube will melt quickest (that’s a popular one with footy players for some reason), none of these play anymore as I say but they all bet when they did! It’s not a new thing, I had bets on players moving when I was told they were likely, don’t forget players are mates with others from local clubs. I never saw them bet on the outcome of games though to be fair, but betting on who got to training first or ice cubes was standard as crazy at it sounds.

I have no doubt. There are those who like a wager or two and athlete's are no different. So many ways to satisfy that yen. What Paqueta may have done goes way beyond that. It's a criminal, fraudulent act and if proven he's looking at a long if not permanent ban and possible prison time. Absolutely insane on his part...

Has this betting stuff been terrible timing or has the player fucked himself by hiding it to West Ham or has West Ham fucked us by not being up front about this from the start?
Careful background checks by specialists on behalf of City is my understanding.
