I got the same feeling reading the article.

SWP's back said:I'm pretty sure a few journalists were briefed (by his people) that he only used the term "negrito" as a way of diffusing the situation. It looks as though its fanned the flames instead as ignorance is no defence and the FA have decided to charge him.sniff said:So, no one knows what he actually said ? yet everyone is in debate about the meaning of Negrito.
Is it just me who cant understand why ?
sniff said:you cant invite people from all over the world, then complain if cultures clash. Thats even more silly than actually being a racist.

When you move to a country, you do your very best to fit in with the laws, standards and culture of the new place. In China for example smoking in restaurants is considered more than acceptable. Should we be happy for people to come over here from China and light up for fear of creating a culture clash
sniff said:Well thats a poor example really, isnt it.
First of all if they did that, they would be asked to stop. If they where then thrown out and fined by the police, that would be over the top.
It certainly is if its clear the person is chinese and on Holiday, if after having it pointed out they do it again, then you would be right.

Suarez has lived in Europe for over four years now. Bit long to be playing the ignorance card.
And while my example may not have been the best ever, it's certainly a lot better than "it's silly to expect people to adapt to the standards of the land they live in".
you cant invite people from all over the world, then complain if cultures clash. Thats even more silly than actually being a racist.

You most certainly can complain if someone comes to your country and doesn't adhere to the basic standards of that country. To use an analagy I've seen on here, would you expect people in the middle east to just grin and bear your missus going topless over there because she does it in Ibiza?
I certainly wouldn't and I wouldn't accuse them of being "more silly than actually being a racist" if they were offended by it.
