Interesting that Cortese has tendered his resignation - got to be related to transfers otherwise why would he quit when he appointed Pochetino and they're doing so well.
It's not transfer related, isn't it because the woman who owns the club wants to sell it? She's the daughter of the guy who bought it but inherited it when he died, apparently she knows nothing about football and couldn't care less. You'd imagine if you were trying to sell a club then you probably wouldn't strip it's assets first?

So they owner's wants to sell the club. Interesting...

Shame in a way, as I really like the club, Pohettino's style and have met nothing but decent fans over the years.

But... this is the right opportunity to go in for Shaw and Clyne. Anyone else in their sqaud who could be of interest to us?

How are players values calculated into the value of a club. I would presume its based on amortisation but in that case what happens to homegrown players? The value of the contract? Or pure conjecture. I mean if the owner wants to sell how will they factor how much Shaw is worth?

Given that he is young and Enlish it would be better for them to sell at a high price now before selling?

Most likely it would, as City/Chelsea would presumably put a higher value on Luke Shaw than a prospective buyer would.

I still think he's nailed on to Chelsea unless something besides that Daily Mail article makes us think otherwise.

a load of pages on Shaw because of a Daily Mail article?! DM is known far and wide as absolute sh1te.

They will sell him before they sell the club. The club will be sold once next years EPL status has been secured and that is likely with, or without Shaw. So pocketing £25 million, makes good sense, as the sale value is going to be based on that lovely money from the TV deal.

I'd definitely look at him with the way things could turn out for them.

I would imagine they will try to show a bit more resolve to hold on to those coveted players now. Unless transfer requests are submitted, the new board will want to show strength.

Some people are forgetting the fact that we are in DESPERATE need of some quality English players. Is Lescott's future here? no. Is Richards? Unlikely unless he improves and becomes less injury prone. Is Barry's? No. Is Rodwell's? Probably yes, because nobody will take him off us, but he's perma-injured so what's the point of him? There is no point.

So who are our home grown players going to be? Unless we want to be only allowed a squad of about 21 or 22 players, we need to be on the look out, and signing, the very best English young players.

I'd have Luke Shaw and Ross Barkley right at the top of my list. If Arsenal weren't doing so good in the league this year, i'd also go for Wilshere.

We need to be after these kind of players. Players that will be good enough to remain in our squad for many, many years. No more Scott Sinclair's please.

Home grown players don't have to be English. Just in the country by thier 19th birthday. We have talented players in the academy that hopefully will fill that bill like Guidetti, Lopes etc.. We don't need to blow our entire transfer budget on 1 average player just because he's English.

Are we forgetting who are owners are? 30M is pennies, and FFP blah blah well easily reach it still

Easy for you to say when it's not your money. We won't meet FFP if we throw 30m on players just because they are English.

You have to remember, the Liebherr family is absolutely minted too, they are worth billions, so they don't have to sell, however, I feel the temptation will be too much, especially as they will be selling the club in time anyway.

Lallana Id be in for. Luke Shaw will go chelsea, die hard chelsea supporter watches them whenever saints arent playing.

Every player we're after, you say Chelsea will get him. I don't get it, are you a City fan or Chelsea fan?

Anyway, I'd love Shaw here but if not, there are just as big talents like Moreno at Sevilla and Rodriguez at Wolfsburg, so it wouldn't be the end of the world even if we want to replace one of our own.

Ben Davies is pretty good too, but probably a notch behind the aforementioned three.

Digne could be better than them all, but that ship has sailed.

I'd be in for Lallana before Shaw. We need creative midfielders more than we need full backs.

We won 5-0, but only because or forwards are phenomenally good. The midfield play was poor and for much of the 1st half we looked very pedestrian

I know where you're coming from with a dreaded injury to Silva and we might struggle, however tonight we could have won by several had we converted some of our first half chances. We made at least 8 good chances.
