Would be naive to think Van Gaal hasn't been consulted. Why wouldn't they ask his view?

FFP is just a joke. Makes no sense. I agree investors should have to leave some capital behind as a guarantee to stop the Portsmouth situation, but to hold back the likes of CIty and PSG is madness.LoveCity said:Eds said:If Shaw goes to the rags I would percieve that as a backward step. At Southampton he is in a young side with a young manager that plays good football. Goes to the rags he is in ageing squad playing shit football with shit players...
Ready to spend a fortune though, Shaw is the first of 5 or 6. And the lunatic Van Gaal will get more out of a few players like Mata and Van Persie.
FFP in effect here, Southampton selling to United (and Lallana to Liverpool) after building a tidy team that could have gone places. If Cortese was still around, though, it might be different.
At least Reus is staying at BVB, United really wanted him.

Wow, Southampton showing some steel if true.

Well if the opening bid is £27mil, and it's fairly well known that manure will have a pretty substantial transfer kitty, Southampton can probably push up the price to the mid 30's.

35 million would be awesome.

The Rags 200m won't go far at that rate.

And they already plunged out £37.1 million for Mata. It'll be interesting to see just how much money the Glazer's are willing to spend this summer.
Not anymore. Said it before, but the going rate for a world class player is probably 30 million now if not 32 million. Mata, Gotze, Fernandinho and Costa have all gone for at least that much. Bale, Neymar, Cavani and Falcao gone for much more.Marvin said:Not convinced by him either. Ridiculous fee. I know Fellaini cost £27m but that price is typically the rate for World Class players

I will piss myself laughing if they spend around £200 million in the summer and don't qualify for the CL again!!!
This, they need at least 6/7 players to improve their deteriorating squad.nmc said:Matt the Giant said:sam-caddick said:Wow, Southampton showing some steel if true.
