They think they could turn him into the new Bale no doubt. Keep him at left back for a few seasons as he learns his trade then move him forward into a more attacking role.
Then they are morons because he's nothing like Bale. He'll never be a high level winger. He's not a great attacking player. Just because Bale started at LB at Southampton doesn't mean every LB they produce is going to score 20-30 PL goals a year. But seeing as how they thought Moyes would be the next Fergie because they are both Scottish they may actually think that way.
Would be a great addition to the club since we need a LB and him being homegrown would really help us going forward. But not for 30m. Danny Alves went for 29 and as good a player Shaw could be he's not worth that kind of money.
Then sell him to Real Madrid for 80-100 million.........
