They bought Rooney when he was 18, I think, but for less money. I know that was a decade ago, but they could build a team and a future around him, could they do that with a left back?

They think they could turn him into the new Bale no doubt. Keep him at left back for a few seasons as he learns his trade then move him forward into a more attacking role.

Then sell him to Real Madrid for 80-100 million.........

I really like this guy as a player so I'll be gutted when he signs for the rags because the moment someone pulls on a rag shirt they become a complete and utter ****.

We have no chance with this kid

He was close to signing for Chelsea last season but was talked around by Southampton to sign a five year deal when he turned 18.

Don't let that fool you though, it was done just to protect an asset and to maximise his fee, i'm confident he'll be at either Chelsea or Arsenal at the start of next season.

I stated a while ago that this kid would be a future England left back before he entered the scene and it's looking like he's going to fulfill that role, I'd even go as far as saying he should make the squad for Brazil (if we qualify) and drop Cole.

REALLY??
Like to know where you got that from....just not true.

What part of the post do you think is not true?

well for starters, there's probably somewhere around 0.0% chance he goes to arsenal -- where they already have the young and talented gibbsy... and then there's maybe 0.01% chance he ends up at chelsea -- might be a fan, but while mourinho's in charge, no chance.

Pardon my ignorance but wasn't that post from Danamy from before this season?

Before he started to post Shaw to United months in advance?..

Yes it was mate

Some people seem to suffer with selective quoting syndrome and things can/do change quickly at times, I'll hold my hands up if I'm wrong but i just say it how it is when i hear things from time to time

Would blow a hole in our budget. Looks like the club will have to be creative in the Transfer Market for a Left Back.

Lets stick with Kolarov and Clichy.

I really think Shaw is a massive talent but nothing wrong with the two Left Backs we have already. We can't buy everybody.
I prefer Kolarov and Clichy too.

Then they are morons because he's nothing like Bale. He'll never be a high level winger. He's not a great attacking player. Just because Bale started at LB at Southampton doesn't mean every LB they produce is going to score 20-30 PL goals a year. But seeing as how they thought Moyes would be the next Fergie because they are both Scottish they may actually think that way.

Would be a great addition to the club since we need a LB and him being homegrown would really help us going forward. But not for 30m. Danny Alves went for 29 and as good a player Shaw could be he's not worth that kind of money.

Then sell him to Real Madrid for 80-100 million.........

When did he turn us down?

Chelsea are understood to have made a late check on the state of play with Luke Shaw's proposed transfer to Manchester United.

The England international had turned down Manchester City's attentions and has privately long indicated his desire to join United with a £27million deal outlined.

However, the lack of an official announcement prompted a recent Chelsea enquiry

you've gone off message for a while

Everyone turns City down, oh apart from the mercenaries we actually sign

I don't know why but everyone's talking about Luke Shaw and £30 million because he's young, talented and homegrown.

I watched Joel Ward at Palace a few times this season and he seemed just as good - even better at coming past the halfway line. Played a blinder at Chelsea and did alright against us.

Bet he wouldn't cost more than £10-13 million.

He looks strong and pacey.

The underlined part is even funnier, considering it's well known he's a Chelsea fan and wants to go there if possible.

According to the Mail in recent months, EVERYONE wants to join United. When Bayern players have been linked with them, they have acted like the deal *will* happen rather than *could*, yet they have been snubbed. Look at this from the weekend:

Roma’s Kevin Strootman, who was key in Van Gaal’s Holland teams, will be added, although probably not until January, as his cruciate knee ligament injury means he will not be able to prove his fitness before then.

"will be added" as if United will just click their fingers and Roma will sell the player. The Daily Mail = rag fanzine.
