Mancini 'arrogant and vain'

If this is going to be forgotten in a few weeks, then it's an exercise in futility keeping it going in the papers. It makes the exercise pointless.

Only if you think MCFC and Mancini are media targets of similar sizes.

Mancini is nobody compared to City. He'll go to Monaco or Roma, or something like that, and will be mentioned in some article outside of one of those countries once in a while (and mainly city related) while City are going to hit the news 5 times a day at least.

Mancini's stuff will be forgotten, City's won't.

On the pitch I'd have given him one more year but if the stories of his behaviour/attitude are true then I suppose he had to go(the circumstances could have been better) as it was an implosion waiting to happen

Let me guess, those who aren't particularly fussed about Mancini don't think there is too much wrong in the truth behind his sacking being exposed whereas those who unconditionally love the guy are appalled because obviously the club should happily take the hit to its reputation and make sure "Bobby's" reputation remains intact, regardless of what was really going on behind the scenes during his tenure?

There are a lot of confused people trying to focus their anger, and struggling for an outlet. Our media team, Brian MArwood, Txiki Begiristain, the media, the players...it's going everywhere at the moment. We've got all this indignation about the "way it's been handled", about "the timing" and now "the leaks".

It's human nature. People are upset. The penny appears to be dropping in some quarters but it will take a bit longer accross the board.

To an extent I think you have a point, but I thought his time had come especially after the Southampton loss. That's when I confirmed my belief he had lost the dressing room. I do think there is a moderate deal of confirmation bias, though.

Also, I don't think the club is taking hits to its reputation that weren't inevitably going to happen no matter what.

I am pleased to see the club let us know what was going on behind the scenes and why they felt he had to go. I thought it was pretty obvious that we've not been a happy club for some time but that it might do some good to have the Mancini supporters' club made aware of it. But then that's confirmation bias for you.

My sentiments exactly and this whole sordid episode highlights the fact that there is another aspect of the club that still requires a whacking great upgrade....

Sadly for you Kloss, Marwood, Khaldoun, Txiki, and Ferran are going nowhere. Lets hope the next manager doesn't alienate them all to the point where none of them will go into bat for him.

I've seen it many times in big business. A clique is formed within the senior management team. And believe me when this happens, and its clearly happened at City - either your face fits or it doesn't. And regardless of how good you are or have been, regardless of what you have delivered or can still deliver if you upset any member of the clique you are toast and you WILL go! The bigger problem is that these cliques hunt in packs always looking for their next potential vitim (so they can demonstrably extert power & control) and they WILL find their next victim sooner rather than later - that is inevitable...
The new manager will have an extended honeymoon period thats for sure but if what he does, or doesn't do begins to put the power of the clique at risk then he will fired off sharpish too. This is where 'management by commitee' becomes dangerous and people get more interested in the politics of the business rather than the performance of the business. Power bases and empires are built and dismantled. Thats why Mancini wanted it all his own way. Thats why Ferguson, Mourhino & Wenger wanted it and have it all their own way - you live or die by the results you deliver and not by the grace and good favour of members of the clique who's mood and patronage can change in the blink of an eye.
Those who are currently singing the praises of the 2 Amigo's need to be very careful what they wish for...

I was pro Mancini all the way...he brought us our first silverware since I was 3 years old...i'm 40 next week...but it seems he really did have to go and that there must be some truth to these rumours

If not...how come not one player has spoken up about being gutted that he has left?

Not one...the silence is deafening

If, as a player, you think your boss is an arrogant cock - that will always end it tears somewhere along the line.

Don't get me wrong I'm absolutely over the moon he has gone. I was just hoping there was not too much muck that flies around after.

Hey as others have said, come next week they maybe on about 'Arry' taking another bung or a full newpaper on the success & greatness of England & RAGs greatest ever Centre Half the camel gobbed "Wio"

This isn't too much muck though surely? Isn't it just the club giving those supporters who can't get their head around the sacking a more realistic view on why the decision had to be made rather than the sanitised official statement which was never going to do anything to help those people understand the decision.

Pretty much sums up my stance as well, although I'm only 24 ;)

I'll forever appreciate what he did for the club, but it's becoming clear his relationships, or lack of, with staff at all levels of the club, meant his departure was inevitable, and to that point, the sooner the better.

The press are always capable of finding ammunition to character assassinate a departing manager if they so choose. They specialise in it with the England manager. For example Sven was a thoughtful manager who treated his players like adults when first got the job, soft and weak willed when he left. Cappello installed much needed order and discipline when he started, was a bullying tyrant by the end.
