Mancini (cont)

I know it's about winning trophies and not winning percentage, but thought it interesting the see the win percentage of Mourinho, Benitez and Mancini at Inter.

Any guesses which is which?

I would hazard a guess Mancini has the highest win percentage based on the fact he was longer at the club than the other two put together.

Nice try, though!

Like I said, the aim of the game is winning trophies, not win percentage. Just thought it was an interesting stat. And yes, Mancini does have the highest percentage, followed by Rafa, followed by Jose.

Maths not your strong point then. Percentage has nothing to do with the length of time spent at the club.

The stats become more reliable the longer the time frame. By that token the figures for Mou and Roberto are more accurate than for Rafa.

And I imagine the figures show that Mancini performed better in the league while Mourinho performed better in Europe. But that we already know.

I wonder what Pellegrini's win % is in the CL ... must be up there even when looked at across all his clubs rather than just his most successful.

50% at Real Madrid
33% at Villareal
41% at Malaga
38% overall

Where did you get those figures from ?

Ha ha. I've got to laugh, Billy, as I know you were expecting a lot better than that.

Still, that being said, whilst those percentages don't look all that impressive, when you look at it this way:

Team - Pld - W - D - L
Real Madrid 8 - 4 - 4 - 2
Villarreal - 24 - 8 - 12 - 4
Malaga - 12 - 5 - 5 - 2

Total - 44 - 17 - 21 - 8

Infact, if you take out Real Madrid from that list:

Total Games: 36
Total Wins: 13
Total Draws: 17
Total Losses: 6

A 13/17/6 record with teams like Villarreal & Malags is quite impressive. Neither Villarreal or Malaga were expected to reach the CL Semi's and Quarter's respectively, so that's not bad going. Only 6 losses in 36 games with average teams in CL is good work.

Didn't realise they had all the managerial records there - thanks makes for very interesting reading. I've said before, I'd have no problem in Pellegrini replacing Mancini. His record in Europe with poor unfancied teams is excellent. I think three q/f appearances, and one semi final appearance in four CL campaigns. Ironically enough although his win record is best at Madrid, he had his worst ever CL campaign with them being knocked out in the first knock out stage.

-- Fri Apr 19, 2013 1:34 pm --

Yeah i was definitely expecting a better win record at Villareal - but overall as you say his stats are very impressive.
