I know it's about winning trophies and not winning percentage, but thought it interesting the see the win percentage of Mourinho, Benitez and Mancini at Inter.

Any guesses which is which?

Woah, wait. I know these percentages well because I've read Mancini's wiki dozens of times. Those are definitely different than what I remember.

edit- here they are

Roberto Mancini- Internazionale

Where did you get your statistics, Moomba?

It was champions league win percentage. Sorry if I didn't make that clear.

Got them from <a class="postlink" href="http://www.uefa.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">www.uefa.com</a>

I'm curious too, but regardless, the difference is less than half a % by your own figures, and Mancini had played more than twice as many matches than Mourinho overall. 61.67% & 62.04%, 227 & 108 games respectively.

From the isolated figures, they show; Equally good, Mancini is more consistent over time ;)

A good storyteller always misses out the facts.....

Ah, okay. I don't know how relevant winning % is for knockout competitions. I mean, Jupp Heynckes will take a loss for his dead rubber match against us last season in which he said he didn't bother to try winning, even though that shouldn't accurately reflect his CL performance. Plus the fact that the CL is played over 2 legs, so you could win the first 5-0, lose the second 0-1 due to resting players, and it would still be a 50% winning percentage.

Anyway, just some thoughts.

Win %age in Chumps means pretty much fuck all, which is what the stats that moomba posted proves.

Bob never got anywhere near winning the thing yet Jose wins it - the stats will always get warped dependent on group stage, if you get a relatively easy draw with two poxy sides then getting 4 wins out of 6 isn't too tricky. Go out in the next round having won at home but lost away and you could have 5 out of 8 yet in essence a shit performance giving a 60 odd% win rate.

I did say that trophies are more important than win percentage. Just thought it was an interesting (and a bit surprising) stat.

It's worth bearing in mind that when Mancini took over, Inter had finished 4th the previous season and hadn't won a title since 1989. When Mourinho took over, they'd finished 1st the previous season, the season before and the season before that. Mancini's record at Inter is very impressive and included a number of records including most points in a Serie A season and seventeen consecutive wins.

So why keep using Chumps League as a stick to beat our current, and otherwise successful, manager with?

Because we've underperformed for 2 consecutive seasons at City in the chumps?
