Mancini (cont)

Not a single inch of movement in Europe? I remember qualifying for the Uefa Cup via the Fair play league.

I think playing in the champions League is enormous improvement and progress.

And you're the one who glossed over the progress moomba presented and went straight for the "what about Europe" excuse, genius.

You just described the progress of getting into those leagues, I am talking about actually improving over the past year in the actual competitions. FFS, do you not see a difference? Doing better in a domestic league, and as a result, moving from the Europa League to the Champions League isn't due to success in Europe. LOL.

Are you happy with our progress under Mancini or not?

Yep, there it is! My coworkers are wondering why I am laughing aloud.

In order of discussion:

1.) Dethred doesn't mind our rate of progress. (a reply to a question by multiple members)
2.) Dethred believes owners DO mind the rate of progress judging by their publicly stated goals. Dethred, hence, is open to replacing Mancini.
3.) Presumably as contrary evidence, Moomba provides a quote as evidence... quote describes goal of challenging for European Honors. Imagine that, Dethred's claims proven by the person arguing against him!
4.) Dethred lists brief story of three European Campaigns. List shows no progress, at all. If anything it shows going backwards in Europe.
5.) Moomba then replies asking a question answered in step #1, as if to imply that I am not happy with our rate of progress.

You. can. not. make. it. up.

It's been entertaining, but I have to head home for the evening. Really made my work day go quickly. Its been fun going from "rag", to "agenda", to "you've only followed City for 10 years, that doesn't make you a psychic", to "You state reasons why Mansour might not be satisfied with our progress, that must mean you're not happy with our progress."

Comic relief on Bluemoon, who'da thunk it?

Or you could just spare us the bullshit and explain why you said you were more than happy with our progress under Mancini, but do nothing but highlight the negatives and slag his achievements.

FWIW the statement said "We are ambitious for the club, like you, but not unreasonably so and we understand it takes time to build a team capable of sustaining a presence in the top four of the Premier League and winning European honours."

So I'm not sure how my evidence has proven my own claims are wrong. Progress isn't mentioned in the quote, you've made that up. A timeframe isn't given in that quote, you've made one up.

If you're 'going home' after work, get on with it. We can't wait to see who logs on after you log off .

Sorry but going from the Europa League to the Champions League is by definition, progress in Europe. What about gaining 10 points in our first ever CL campaign, is that not progress in Europe?

Your response above indicates to me you still don't understand that the club has a long term plan.

To quote an idiot, "/Facepalm"

I understand what you are saying Dethred that we havent progressed in Europe.

We have progressed domestically and that was the first major part of the plan (or 2 stages of the plan..win something and then win the prem league..we may have even been ahead of target on that one but I dont know)

We will not progress in Europe without further improving ur squad.....good enough to win the prem league does not equate to good enough to progress in europe. (Look at how well the likes of barry, milner esp play in the prem league and help city dominate teams yet get them in europe and we struggle...its the same when they both play for england as well....Im a big fan of both players btw)

To make the next stage of progress further investment will be needed on one or two individuals (not on the same scale as the initial investment however)...this is the next stage that I believe the club should start this summer....we know we have a squad that can win the prem league (despite being behind this year)...now we need on or two quality additions (esp in midfield) to help us progress in europe (maybe that is why RM wanted de rossi??)....that is why I believe the club/owners will keep mancini....to see if he can achieve the next stage.

I find it mind boggling that some people would like to see the back of Mancini. Over the best part of three years he has win us the league, fa cup and a community shield. We have also been in another community shield final and are now in another fa cup final. We have qualified for europe and finished in the top four under his leadership, and currently sit a respectable 2nd. The champions league is a tidy little money earner for us, and if we keep on qualifying each season, we will get better and better in it and to me not getting out of the group stages isn't that bigger deal, but qualifying is both in terms of monetary and player acquisition prospects. The players seem to like him if you listen to Silva, Clichy, Aguero etc, and so do I. We have a great manager and long may we keep him.

Why dont you tell us what you think was expected ?? we are happy so far,its you that thinks its not good enough.

I am happy as well, but I seriously doubt Mansour is. As I've said a dozen times, I would be happy with us mid-table, as we all were pre-take over. We don't support the club because of a trophy haul. I'm simply stating the obvious fact that City is not being the recipient of a massive investment to win domestic cup competitions.

Do you disagree that this investment is made whole by a run of cup trophies? Also, try to answer the original question, please.

Happy being mid-table, pre-takeover???

Please go away.

The whole thread is totally academic.

I know. It's about time it was laid to rest. As I write, it's gone on for 96 pages and there are other threads that gather hundreds more pages, yet all covering the same subject!

I disagree

Whilst he's in position the thread will run on and on with both positive and negative views and opinions.

This thread is no different than the threads we have on the opening page about Nasty, Garcia, Aguero and Gaz Baz, in my humble opinion of course?
