bit of a side step in my opinion. yes he has won more than hughes, but has no experience managing the PL. Not the replacement i had in mind. will be interesting how he used up to the summer and if Mourniho does leave Inter.

I'm not saying you're wrong but what are you basing your utter lack of confidence in Mancini on?[/quote]

More than anything it is just because im gutted the club has lost its stability but if u want a reason it would have to be the fact he has no premiership experience! Other than mourinho who can you tell me that has come to the premiership and been a success straight away??
Fair enough Mancini won things in italy, but how much of that is due to Juve being corrupt!??
It seemed to me the majority of players were happy playing for Hughes!

THINKING OUT LOUD!!!!

I was not an MH fan, however I am confused by the action taken. If there was doubt about MH's ability why did we let him spend all that money and then not give him time to prove his team. If the rumours regarding Robbie and Adebayor being difficult are true then who was thwarting MH? (MH does not strike me as a person who would let players mess him about.) Along with many others I have been totally frustrated by City's performance over the past few months & MH has to take responsibilty for the disappointing results but don't forget that the most consistent performers this season are MH's "men".

I can only assume the transfer budget for January & the summer is again large as the new guy will want/need to have his own players in the team. The only argument I can see for yesterday's action is that we need to qualify for Champions League this season to attract the calibre of player needed to meet the ambitious targets set for the club, MH was clearly viewed as not delivering the targets. Looking at Mancini's track record and experience I see no guarantees! Are we now a hire & fire club & therefore prepared to sack Mancini in May if we are not in a top 4 position? Managerial stability is a proven model!!

Apologies for the longwinded contribution but I am wondering if others are equally confused by the thinking/actions of our owners? I hope Mancini is the wizard we ae seeking!!!!!!!!

Fair enough. It represents something of a gamble, I suppose, that he has not managed in the Prem before but how can any foreign manager get a chance to manage in the prem if nobody trusts them because they haven't done it before? A good manager is a good manager, I imagine, and should be able to get the best out of a group of players regardless of which country they are managing in. I'm not convinced by this argument of sticking with managers purely because it gives "stability." Surely it is only worth sticking with a manager and having that perceived stability if the situation is proving to be a successful one. Arsenal could have opted for stability and kept Bruce Rioch and missed out on everything Wenger has done for them. Incidentally that defence may have been delightfully happy to be playing for Hughes but they were an embarrassment and I suspect that is more important.

Yeah, I'm a bit puzzled about it all too. Like you I can't understand why he'd been given a summer vote of confidence plus a huge transfer budget, only to be sacked 4 months into the season. I'd understand it if results were so crap that we were nearer the bottom than the top, but even accounting for all the silly points dropped we were still 6th when he got the boot and not too far off 4th. Now top 6 or top 4 was the target depending on who you listen to so I don't think we were too far below where we were expected to be at this point.

Agree with you like you say a good manager is simply a good manager who will get the best out of his squad because at the end of the day i believe its down to what the 11 players do out on the pitch but waht had sparky done so wrong to deserve getting sacked? yes 2 wins in 11 is not good but we had 8 draws and just think if we got 3 or 4 wins instead we would be right up there in the leauge.

Thoroughly dissapointed in this action, but, the owners Are IN CHARGE and are (we hope) being advised by the best ....tho who this is, i think we have a right to ask ????
been a City fan for so long ,the drama is almost expected........a soap opera would be in a smart writers mind here......who else does it like us ???
Ever since ALILSON'...........
the draws killed sparky, i no...........we thought we gained a point that we traditionally would have dropped, and we are a lot better , BUT, succesful people are impossible to please....
MAN CITY have ENTERED THE BIG LEAGUES !!! lifes tough at the top !
we just havent had a lot of experience of it yet,cos we're still growing !!
hopefully the good work that has obviously been put in can be developed further, pushing us to the top.
I hope to see great talents like BELLERS & GIVEN continue this season to finish what SPARKY has started...............
we are manchester city, we are comming..................

Noticed an awful lot of very new posters giving their views on Mancini... inevitably slagging him and the club off.

Strange how they didn't have views on anything else until Mancini came along.

Are you thinking what I'm thinking boys and girls..?

The fact is, the pressure is on Mancini already.

Due to the way MH was canned, the press is having having a field day, we are the biggest twats ever, money is ruining the game (again), and we have stolen the "soul" of football. Hysterical horseshit absolutely, but thats what you let yourself in for when you say one thing, do another by hanging out your manager when sixth in the league and in a cup semi.

Its gonna be a tough few weeks.

If Mancini can "hit the ground running" and get some points in the bag, it will ease a bit, our owners will be justified in their decision, and all will eventually settle.

If we dont. Well. Wait and see.

Good luck Henry, for all our sakes.
