Mancini out (Merged)

Re: Who should City get to replace Mancini?

I still think we will finish top four and therefore Mancini will stay.

Re: Who should City get to replace Mancini?

I don't want Mancini to be sacked. I think he's doing a reasonable job in difficult circumstances and if we finish in the top 4 then there should certainly be no move to sack him imo. If they were to sack him then Mourinho or Hiddink would clearly be excellent replacements. I can't think of anyone else who I'd particularly want ahead of Mancini.

Re: Who should City get to replace Mancini?

Barring a dramatic upturn in form, we should look for a new manager next season. I just don't believe Mancini is the man to turn this club into the force that ADUG envision. Thats not a kneejerk reaction from last night, its based on everything since he came, from his signings, to results and performances. He has done average since he arrived, and will the owners trust him with another 100 million plus to spend in the summer? Thats a valid question I'm sure they will be considering. 4th was the target last season, thats why they sacked Hughes, because they didn't believe he would reach it. Mancini may get 4th this season, but the bars going to be raised again next season, they'll be expecting a title challenge, and trophies, which is probably what they expected to challenge for this season. Arsenal haven't really improved or got worse from last season, Chelsea are a spent force, and the United team isn't the strongest. I'm sure the owners would have looked at that, and seen an opportunity to give a stronger title challenge, yet any chance we had of challenging for it, ended with that defeat to Villa in January. At this stage last year, we were 4 points clear of Spurs in 4th, this time its 3, with another potential decider in May. If we don't get 4th, then that is gross underachievement, no matter what happens regarding the FA Cup, which lets face it, we've had a very easy run in up until now.

Re: Who should City get to replace Mancini?

i wouls love to see mancini do well and be talked about in the same breath as fergie in 20 years times but if not i would have a serious look at benitez. clearly he is a class manager (i realise he failed at inter) and managed o get second in the prem with an average squad. may be worth a punt.

fingers crossed in 10/20 years we are talking about sir bobby haha.

I'm sure Bobby Robson will still be talked about by then.

Yep. He will be class. Get him in and quickly!

He speaks flawless English, has made immediate impacts at every club he's been at with positive results and attractive football, has great man management skills and players love him (probably learnt that aspect from Jose), has a better record at Porto than Mourinho did and he is only very young (33) but still has quite a lot of experience and could build a dynasty at City.

If I could choose anyone it would be him, he's a class act and I think would be perfect for City, plus more realistic than Jose, Hiddink etc.

Re: Who should City get to replace Mancini?

We won't win anything with Mancini, he is the problem imo.

The thing is, I don't think the owners will sack him:(. Martin O'Neil would be better imo as I can see us winning cups as well as a top4 place. You h?ave to remember he nearly got Villa into the top 4, how much more us with better players and more money

If we get into the CL, I would hate to see how Mancini would set up especially in the away games. He was shit in the CL with Inter despite having the likes of Adriano and Ibrahimovic, which is why Moratti got rid of him.

He is such a shit manager, I don't know why the owners gave him the job.

-- Tue Apr 12, 2011 12:34 pm --

He won't come though. He said he wants to stay at Porto, and win the league again to prove this season was no fluke.

I can see him going to La Liga or Serie A even if he does leave. Personally I think he would be a fantastic choice, and somebody I can see doing really well despite being only 33 (sounds like a FM game lol). He is attack minded, and just seems a breath of fresh air tbh,

I really hope Mancini goes. I didn't even want Hughes to go as much as I want Mancini to go in all honesty.

I'd prefer him to Jose any day of the week. No big ego either. If city are thinking long term this has got to be ou man!

Unfortunately I think the owners will stick with Mancini.

I we get 4th, Mancini will be here next season:(

Villa Boas. He'll know what to do with our attacking options. Shit on Balotelli, Dzeko, and Milner all you want, but at the end of the day Mancini is a center back, and organization and cohesion higher up the pitch is lacking. Villa Boas is the man for this job.

wtf ?!

I hope all you little pussies moaning and bitching about one defeat in a very tough away match with mitigating factors will start a new thread offering your wembley tickets to GENUINE city fans who don't throw the toys out of the pram every time we lose.

Owen Coyle
Ian Holloway
Boas for fucks sake
Guardiola lol

Coyle has shown real telent for me. not a big enough name for some of you on here bu a manager that knows english football and it's culture and has improved both clubs he's been at. He plays attractive football, has an eye for a player and deals well the the media.
I'd wager the likes of Milner, Tevez and Johnson would see him as a breath of fresh air.

There'd be no more 5 minute conferences outisde the dressing room at half time that's for sure. He's be in communicating with his players as is normal.

Do we have to go for some foreign manager who you all rave about even though he doesn't have a clue about English football?

Good post and I totally agree. Mourinho is the obvious choice but if we can't get him then id like us to go for Coyle. For me he is going to be a top manager for years to come and he could build a legacy here as he has time on his side. I like his style of play and his, no bulshit interviews. Plus he is obviously a good motivator.
Won't be a popular choice I know but thats just me.

Not a big enough name to come in and work with high profile players. Also at both English clubs he has been at, his first 6 month or so has been rocky, before things started clicking. If Mancini is getting treated like this after a defeat at Anfield I don't think anyone would give Coyle the time. Also his record in the transfer market isn't great. He's good at getting the best out of players. I think Everton or Villa is around his level. He will never be a top manager.

i've said all along if Mourinho did make himself available then irregardless of how Mancini finishes the season we have to go for Mourinho. Mourinho has proved himself time and time again in all different leagues and numerous times in europe. Mancini has not!

Re: Who should City get to replace Mancini?

It's frustrating how it's like "Mancini will still be here if we get fourth :-("

So what? He'd have fulfilled what is a very tough job. If we get fourth, Mancini can stay as long as we keep progressing.

We have improved generally since Mancini has come. Last year we finished fifth. This year we finish fourth, and next year with a full pre-season under our belts the players who haven't quite hit their best will improve, and we will become a title challenging team.

If we don't get CL football, which I think is unlikely atm, then yes, Mancini will most likely go, and rightly so as the main objective of his job has not been met.

Re: Who should City get to replace Mancini?

Coyle? Benitez? O'Neill? HOULLIER?

Seeing as half the fans on here fly into a psycho rage when we lose a game, I really don't these fellas are going to make you happy.

For what it's worth, I think Mancini should be given another year if we make fourth. If we don't, then I'd have -

Guardiola - Very unlikely to get him, but the best manager in the world for me.
Mourinho - Would be entertaining, and able to attract stars.
Van Gaal - His Ajax 95 and Bayern 2010 sides played wonderful football, and he's eminently gettable.
Klinsmann and/or Lowe - Now here's a 'dynasty' for you. Klinsmann organised a top-down reorganisation of the German national team, the fruits of which Lowe guided to a semi in last year's WC. Doubt many Bluemooners would have the patience for such a project, though ;)
Del Bosque - Why does no-one ever mention the current WC-holding boss? He's sixty, mind.
