I wouldn't go that far. We still have to meet the break-even requirement but the belief is that most of the sanctions imposed will be relaxed if we meet the €20m maximum loss condition for the 2013/14 financial year that was imposed as part of those sanctions.

Cheers PB,so,that hopefully being the case....approximately what amount will be available to spend?
It's difficult to say without knowing who will be sold or what the figures look like but I reckon we could stand something like £30-40m net per season quite comfortably. That might not sound a lot but I think we're now at the stage where we're buying replacements rather than additions so if we sell a couple of players for £30m we could spend £60-70m on replacements.

In the grand scheme of things that is fuck all considering we have generally struggled to sell for decent money. We certainly have players that can make us okay money but when you look at what Chelsea have made on Lukaku etc it's quite crazy. In terms of financial fairplay qualifying for the CL knockout makes a huge difference. We qualify and we get a lot more money which can go into that pot. It takes us closer to the £50-60m before we've sold players and that could get us a couple of top quality additions.

Keep in mind that we made a profit after spending £100 million 13/14 season. Our income is now even higher and our wage bill is down further. Can't remember how much we brought in from player sales though but this points to us being in a very strong position from next summer.

Cheers again PB.

A decent kitty then but not quite the open wallet some are thinking/suggesting.
Our gross spend has averaged £70m a season over the last 4 seasons with a net spend of around £45m so I don't see it being that much different over the longer term from now on. We might splurge one year and reign spending back for a couple of seasons though.

DIEGO SIMEONE has emerged as the No.1 target to replace Manuel Pellegrini if the Manchester City boss is sacked.

By Adrian Kajumba and Jeremy Cross / Published 11th November 2014

Pellegrini is feeling the heat following a woeful run of results and the champions will review his position at the end of this season.

Starsport understands club bosses have started considering possible replacements and have made Simeone their preferred choice.

The Atletico Madrid boss led the Spanish outfit to a stunning La Liga title last season and came within minutes of winning the Champions League as well.

The Argentine has become one of the most sought-after bosses in Europe and was on Manchester United’s radar when David Moyes was sacked in 2013.

Pep Guardiola has long been touted as a future City manager due to his close links with Etihad bosses Ferran Soriano and Txiki Begiristain following their time together at Barcelona.

But the Bayern Munich boss is the highest-paid manager in world football on a staggering £12.5m-a-season at the German champions.

Even big-spending City are unkeen to spend that much, so are now considering the merits of Simeone should Pellegrini get the axe.

The pressure on Pellegrini has rocketed following his side’s poor start to the campaign.

City trail Chelsea by eight points in the title race and were knocked out of the League Cup by Newcastle at home.

To make matters worse Pellegrini’s men are rock-bottom of their Champions League group after taking just two points from their opening four games.

Starsport understands the City manager still has the backing of club bosses right now and his job is not under immediate threat.

But chairman Khaldoon Al-Mubarak will reassess the situation in the summer and would not be afraid to axe the Chilean and make his move for Simeone.

It means Pellegrini is now on trial until the end of the season and will have to prove he still has the backing of his superstar squad and is the right man to take them forward.

Pellegrini still has credit in the bank, having landed the Premier League and Capital One Cup in his first season at the helm.

But owner Sheikh Mansour and his right-hand man Al-Mubarak have shown in the past that they are not afraid to act if results are not good enough

***Just noticed the writer of the article has rectified their error***

Apparently it's Diego Costa - not Simeone who is due to take over the reins at City from Manuel...journalism at it's finest!
