Marc Cucurella

That's my point. Square pegs in round holes & no specialist LB's since Mendy, Kolarov & Clichy.

It's been a perennial issue for City over the past 6 seasons & it's high time we stopped with the mend & make do approach to filling a position which has constantly caused us grief & has never been properly resolved.
Difficult to argue with that.

City’s Left Backs Just implode…

Position might be cursed. Half arsed, injured, arrested. Where’s Wille Donachie when you need him?

We should be recruiting Cucurella or any other LB good enough to compete before we sell Zinchenko. I’m sure the lad wouldn’t mind if the deal is blown off in the end. I’m sure I wouldn’t. But if we are sure about getting in cover, I think the club won’t stand in Zinchenko’ s way and leave the final decision up to the player. It’s how we treat our players and that is part of why players like to come to us. Among other guarantees obviously.

However if we sell Zinchenko before getting a LB in we put ourselves in a vulnerable position. I like to think Txiki knows that.
I don’t think we would. We’ve tried early with Cucarella but it seems we didn’t have a plan B in case we can’t agree a fee with Brighton.

I think we need another winger as an option in case Haaland gets injured or Alvarez doesn’t gel.

Having natural fullbacks is great and I can see Grealish and Foden/Mahrez coming inside, but if we’re changing our playing style, it’s best to err on the side of caution and have another option. Especially given the net spend this year.

I agree we would be better with a natural left back, all I am saying its not a disaster if we have to go with what we had for full backs last season

For me, it would be daft and foolish not bringing in a left back after selling zinchenko, pep wants all the bases covered this season and a left back is 100% needed

His name sounds like an exotic dance and his flowing locks give of the vibe of a 80's porn star.
Just pay the money City!!!

Hey CG, not spoken to you yet but - honest opinion - do you reckon that Cucurella is, regardless of cost, capable of maintaining / improving our status as PL & CL contenders ?

I've seen barely any of him (as much as I like you team's style of play, and you're one of the teams who I'll switch on to see if I have nowt else to do), so genuinely wondering what your opinion is ?
YES, he had a great first season in the PL. I took a couple of games for him to settle, but after that he was the stand out player. He was fans player of the season àlong with the players player. U will get a player who has speed, good controll, great positioning, imo he is better going forward, but still a good defender. He covers alot of ground up and down the wing. Is he better than Zinchenko, imo YES. If he signs fir you and settles in quickly i bet you all will be thinking this is a £60 million player. He played a few game as CB and also CM. Hes young and will get better under Pep, and imo if you get him for less than £45m from us than you have a bargain.

As a season ticket holder my answers are from watching him live in every home game at the Amex and 7 away games, a high % of those game he was MOTM.

If we gave a forward who could finish his assists would be alot more.
Hope that helps u out.

You've fucked up now, haven't you?

@Lavinda Past @DATOIA get at him!
Why? He's not wrong about Jack's 'value', that was agreed and paid by dumb arses who seem to have no idea about the real value of money. They may as well be playing Monopoly.

I think Jack will come good, @Keeper! isn’t as convinced. That's fair enough, we don't alwaays agree. Whether Jack will be a success while at City, only time will tell.

The one thing pretty much for sure, is that we won't get anywhere near our money back if/when we sell him.

Fine post - impressed you remember our Gillingham playoff. Most fans seem to think we were founded 14 year ago
Remember a few games against you lot, beating you 4-1 in 83 fa cup, same season you relegated us. Unfortunatly that gane gave u a chance to stay up but i think you were relegated the same season. Seen a few players ay for both, Neil mcnab, corrigan, Robinson, paul Dickov and a couple of loans from you more recently under Poyet. I also remember staying up late watching a documentry on City when Malcom Allison was ur manager.

What I do know is the fact that at the vital games end of season Grealish spent a lot of time on the bench, that's a fact, just as it was for Ake.
It isnt a fact though is it? What is a fact is Grealish played the full 90 in 4 of the last 6 games. Playing more minutes in those games than Silva, Mahrez, Foden and Jesus and 45 about less than KDB.
