I Respect city for selling players as soon as they want to go. NO fucking about with telling them to wait till it suits us. Instead we work with them to help them. Shows we care about the humans not the money.
Of course people just like to have a dig at Txiki and pretend city are still a shoddy run business so they can live in a fantasy world where they know better than the people paid to do it.

How much do you think grealish has made for his club commercially? I would imagine it’s a hefty sum on shirt sales and merch. He needs to play with more freedom or he will not reach the heights he should be .
Why does this myth still exist that players pay their fees back in shirt sales. Puma make the vast majority of the money off shirt sales.

Club's usually receive around 7.5-15 percent of shirt sales revenue.

The deal with Puma is worth £65million a season, they don't also hand over all the revenue off shirt sales as manufacturers would be bankrupt after a season.

Gonna take a hell of a lot of shirts to cover his transfer and wages. As a side note, how many people do you know with a grealish shirt and merch?

Maybe Leeds also had a better relationship with the player, and also saw the benefit of a good long term relationship with us in the future.

Absolutely mate. The stance both City and Brighton have taken on this will have repercussions for both.

I do think the way Brighton are playing this will have damaging implications for the reputation they’re trying to cultivate as a Club exciting young players can show their talent at, before moving on to bigger and better.

Bloom is now demonstrating he’ll block a move when he’s had a more than double your money offer, even when the player is clearly desperate enough to hand in a TR.

Agents will absolutely have this in mind in future deals, and I’d imagine this lack of trust will result in him being hit with release clause demands in the future as a consequence.

It will also have an impact if a player looking for a stepping stone has any aspirations of playing for City in the future, as they’ll know we’ll be very reluctant to deal with Brighton again.

Better to go to Southampton or another club with a similar model if you ever aspire to playing for City.

The negative for us will be the release clause, and leaving a player behind when they’ve made that move. I think that will reflect very badly on City in future - which is the one thing that makes me think we might push to find a deal even if it does go beyond our valuation.

Stop dicking about and just pay the fucking money for this and have it done with. He'll be a great addition to our squad and possibly help get more out of Grealish than playing Cancelo does.

Txiki needs to swallow his pride and pay up because the team needs reinforcements. 10 mil quid is nothing for man city and it'd rarely matter if city end up being successful later in the season.

People forget that Liverpool also paid 75 mil for Van Dijk and he wasn't the regular superstar in the premier league at Southampton - nor a regular for the Dutch national team
You need to realise that Txiki doesn`t hold the purse strings at the club.

And do we keep doing that every time we try to sign a player and the selling club's board see the opportunity to milk us dry?

If you think that Cucurella would change Grealish's game esp. quicker decision making and going for goal you will be disappointed.

Cucurella would improve our left defense that's why he would make so much sense.

It would change his game, he’d be able to play inside an overlapping full back, and not be left out wide left with players doubling up on him.Not just him Foden too if he plays there.

I still can't get around how we have let Zini go without cucurella or an alternate LB sorted out

There was never really a rush to get Zini out and with his attitude I know he would have given 100%

Yes , he would have wanted game time - but if we are not going to get an LB , pretty sure Zini would have gone ample game time

Clearly this summer he doesn't want to wait.

There is no guarantee Cucarella would be a massive success at City and I’m comfortable that we simply aren’t willing to gamble £50m on a young player with only 3 seasons in the relegation depths of the Spanish League and a 1 season in the Premier League under his belt. No Champions League experience, never had the pressure of competing for trophies and he’s not an international so any comparisons with Zinchenko, Walker and other players of a similar valuation is not a fair one surely. He looks a good player and Brighton are entitled to value him as they see fit but I’m totally comfortable with us moving on to another target.

According to a lot of people on here we do. Stop dicking about City, they want 50+ if it's 55 or 65 just pay it, you know it makes sense. He was Brighton player of the year that's only a small step behind Ballon d'Or winner.
