Marcos Lopes

love to see a player with confidence. Nice that the city players have helped him play.

p.s great goals tonight, agueros and negredos second were beautyies, and perfect cross from marcos

Great to see him getting a full 90 minutes tonight and showing quality and confidence throughout, aside from his skills, I really enjoyed the tigerish way he chases after the ball, even against lads twice his size.

Lets not start a pissing contest with other teams players ... he's a unique young prospect in his own right and he's ours, just enjoy watching him progress here.

Best thing he did tonight was leave a foot in, in a tackle with Nolan, anybody doing that deserves a lot of credit.

Very impressed with him so far, great strength for his age, gives the ball away quite a lot, but I think that's just the step up, and when he does he works his arse off to get it back, a bit like a 'good' Dickov, I don't imagine its any fun playing against him !

Did well. Looks a nice little footballer. Great to see a kid come through at last. Was boyata the last one? That was four years ago, and one per year is the benchmark

Great performance.

It's fair to say I'd take both him and Januzas in my team. Lopes pace on the ball reminds me of a young Ribery. We definitely need to get this lad a decent run of games over the next few weeks. I think he could be the "transfer" we've needed.

Silva Navas
Nasri Lopes Milner

Great set of balanced attacking players.

very good effort and seems to have a level head on his shoulders. I enjoyed his tenacious tackling. There were a few times where he cleverly won the ball back.
Keep on working hard Marcos and your rewards will come.

Does anyone find him a bit like an unfinished Tevez?

can see a bit of tevez in him but less finishing and more creating. similar bullish look on and off the ball, though

The biggest thing for me last night was his willingness to track back ;) he put in a full shift which as an 18yr old is no mean feat. Am I wrong in thinking he was taking the corners from the right at the end?

Indeed he did take corners from the right.

Ah good, I'm not crazy. They were whipped in with plenty of pace. Good to see.

I know this will be shot down, but if we were to go 451 against Barcelona in light of Milner/Nasris absence I wouldn't mind Lopes at all on the left with Silva the AM. Lopes is quick and sharp enough to help press Barcelona in the initial phase, which will be vital. Him and Navas are *by far* the best players at the club at this. One on each side would really help when Barcelona's CBs spread to receive the ball from Valdes in the FB positions. Then Kun to pick up Busquets and you have the Mourinho playbook vs Barcelona right there.

The alternative is Garcia in CM with Yaya pushed on and Silva at LM.. You lose a lot of the sharpness in the press with this setup as Silva isn't quite quick enough and Yaya is Yaya.

You could also trust Lopes with the ball and going forward. Fuck it, I'd play him.
