Marcos Lopes

I think he may get a full game on Saturday perhaps on the bench for a few prem games? Or is it too early?

I would think yes and yes to all above. Match on Saturday and 15-20 cameos in the league?

I am not sure about that. He looked exhausted in the post match interview and it was his first full 90 minutes. I think Pellers may ease back on the throttle and put him back on the bench on the weekend. Of course he can always come on in the second half.

I just think that backing up so quickly might be a big ask.

Absolutely chuffed for the little guy, another great performance. The willingness to run with the ball in central areas with his head up looking for a pass is really encouraging, there aren't many players about who are capable of doing that. To think he is only just 18 is incredible, he's so far away from the finished article yet already so polished. If he can carry on improving (which seems likely with his attitude) then he could be the jewel in our academy crown and a real asset to the team in a couple of years

I enjoyed seeing such levels of confidence. So many youngsters (understandably) want to play conservatively and not do anything wrong when they get their big chance, but Lopes was virtually nerveless last night. I've watched players like Sterling, Jizzjazz and Townsend come through at other clubs with no little envy in the last few years, and it was great to see one of ours with the pace and flair to fit in so seamlessly

Excellent 90 mins last night, it really was and he certainly didnt look out of place.

Loved the fact he likes a tackle or 2 as well.

Im in the, "if you're good enough, you're old enough" camp and this lad is there or there abouts for me.

as tied as he looked I can't see a problem with him playing again on Saturday. he looks a very fit lad and Tuesday - Saturday in more than enough rest for anyone playing football, never mind a professional!

He has to start on Saturday. Let's give the lad another 90 mins he deserves it. His work rate was exceptional last night. That's the thing I liked most because he's obviously got skill and dribbling ability.

Pellegrini's phone will be white hot this morning with a hell of a lot of managers, premier league ones as well begging for the lad on loan.

He was all over the place wasn't he. Really pleased for him and love seeing young players come through. Missed this over the last 4 years or so.

Best moment to put in a talented youngster is when the team is in a good moment. We are and it sparked of the little man. Lopes had a fantastic game and it was a joy to watch him chase whatever moved (it was probably why Pellegrini hardly moved on the sidelines). It made me smile when halfway through the 2nd half he was asking for the ball all the time swerving over the pitch. No wonder he ran out of steam.

I'm sure the coaching staff know exactly how to handle Lopes mentally and physically and decide if he gets another game vs Watford so soon after this one. I would love him to start again. It's been too long since we had a new youngster from our own ranks playing the full 90 minutes and impressing the way he did. Let's hope he keeps both feet on the ground and progresses to be one of the regular starters next season.

The biggest thing for me last night was his willingness to track back ;) he put in a full shift which as an 18yr old is no mean feat. Am I wrong in thinking he was taking the corners from the right at the end?

I know this will be shot down, but if we were to go 451 against Barcelona in light of Milner/Nasris absence I wouldn't mind Lopes at all on the left with Silva the AM. Lopes is quick and sharp enough to help press Barcelona in the initial phase, which will be vital. Him and Navas are *by far* the best players at the club at this. One on each side would really help when Barcelona's CBs spread to receive the ball from Valdes in the FB positions. Then Kun to pick up Busquets and you have the Mourinho playbook vs Barcelona right there.

The alternative is Garcia in CM with Yaya pushed on and Silva at LM.. You lose a lot of the sharpness in the press with this setup as Silva isn't quite quick enough and Yaya is Yaya.

You could also trust Lopes with the ball and going forward. Fuck it, I'd play him.
Exactly, you need players willing to chase all over the park and make sacrifices against barca and especially when we're missing jimmy's industriousness in the first leg this could be a great option. However, we need to give him a few more games in the FA cup and the PL first before bringing him in for this big of a game.
