He looks a powerful runner and a good dribbler, he's not had a chance to show much end product so far.

I don't know mate, whenever he has played he has showed his end product, I think in total he has played 4 cup games for us and in that time he has scored one goal and got two assists.

He scored a goal and in all honesty missed a perfect chance in the friendly in Abu Dhabi in May as well.

His record for the Portugal U19 is 14 in 21 which for an attacking midfielder is decent.

I really hope he carries on improving because I really can see him in our team in the next few years.
Sorry for the confusion, I was talking about Intima, not Lopes. I couldn't rate Lopes much higher, I'm pretty sure I even went as far as to call him a future Ballon D'Or candidate a couple of years ago (slightly rashly it has to be said!)

I thought Intima did pretty well in that U19s game, playing with intelligence & workrate but was often ignored by a bit of a clique within the team. Liked to have seen what he could do if the established players had included him more in the overall play.

Portugal u19s through to the final, Lopes scored his penalty in the shoot-out.

He was the best player on the pitch by a considerable mile too. Rest of them were dross.

True, from an attacking point of view anyway. Serbia parked the bus and doubled up on everyone, only Rony looked to have that spark to spin and break free of his man and make something happen. He's got a real x-factor, he's one of those unique players who look like they can make something happen in these situations. Can't wait to see him get a full season under his belt at Lille.

He was frustrating at times to watch last night though.

I thought he was the player likely to unlock the door and on most occasions when he received the ball he did something exciting, but for me it was not as frequent as you would want it from your number ten.

For me he needs to get involved more because there are moments in games when he does go missing, I suppose that is him showing his lack of maturity in his position maybe.

Serbia looked well organized and setup to counter Portugal and one more thing Marcos has got to learn if he wants to play at an elite level is learning to break down teams who park the bus or are just well organized in general.

Football talent scout Marco Sabato on Euro U19s best player: "Without a doubt Marcos Lopes of Portugal. He has class, talent and technique."

We're fortunate to have such talent here.

Agreed, and equally,he is fortunate that we are giving him the platform to display such.

If he finds that missing consistency,we're laughing!

Lille plays Champions League qualification soon, if you want to check out Lopes new team.

Won 2-0 away at Grasshoppers. That means that Lille almost sure to play either in EL or CL group stage.

Great news for them and of course for Lopes. The more matches, the bigger chance for him to play. And playing in Europe is always a huge plus.

Im abit worried that he doesn't get the pre season with lille because he is off on u19 EM. A pre-season in Lille would probably have given him better changes of actually becoming a starting player IMO.

He was average today, but the entire Portuguese team were. Germany outclassed them and the 1-0 scoreline was a bit flattering. Lopes did have the best chance(s) with a double strike, but both were blocked. He also played a couple of nice through balls but slightly overhit.

Hope our scouts have eyes on some of those Germans. Phenomenal talents. I remember Julian Brandt was linked with us some time back, he played and was good.

Never got into the game, Portugal comprehensively outplayed and couldn't get a foothold in the game. All tournament their tactics of playing it down the sides seemed a bit suspect, but the Germans bullied the wingers who were both dreadful and Portugal barely got out of their half. The germans were very impressive, very strong and a great team press.

Today's showing proved why he needs to go on loan and leave youth football behind.

I think unless he has an unbelievable season at Lille I think he will need at least a few years on loan.

German youth coaches doing wonderful job creating and improving young talents. We should get some of those coaches in our academy.

Germany U19 was easily above all the teams in this tournament, deservedly won it. Pretty much like Germany the WC...

I dont know how is their youth system working in different clubs but they doing something extremely well.

Lopes didnt have a great game apart from the first one vs probably the weakest team in the tournament Isreal. He needs that loan move to Lille and most importantly he needs game time.Throw into deep water and lets see does he improve or not. If not there is no way he gets close to City first team in 15-16 season.

Hopefully he will come back from there as a lot better player who improved a lot.

Rony's with Lille - even had his first kick around Monday before Tuesday's CL qualifying match -
<a class="postlink" href="http://www.losc.fr/actualite-foot-lille/reportages/rony-lopes-je-me-sens-pret-jouer" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.losc.fr/actualite-foot-lille ... pret-jouer</a>

He made the squad list for the CL match vs Grasshoppers but didn't make the starter or sub list - press called it a courtesy inclusion. If Rony breaks into the regular roto with Lille it's a decent accomplishment because they have some solid veteran MFers. Would love to watch him feeding their attacking corps - Kalou, Mendes, Origi - pretty athletic team. go dogues - arf
