Marcos Lopes

Totally out of his depth today .Only time will tell if it was just a bad day at the office or he is another in the long line of prodigies who can't step up .

Hopefully he learnt some lessons today, as that is what is about at is age.

Think MOTM on Tuesday may have made him think it was easier than it is. an also playing mid-week and Saturday is not as easy as people think.

He needs to be on the bench while Nasri is out injured to get some game time. We do not need to rush him, 10 15 mins every other game until end of season will bring him on

Certainly had a 'mare today but Watford were all over our midfield in the first half. Hopefully he will learn that it's not always going to be as easy as it was at West Ham.

He found it hard today didn't he? It was one of those days all round for most of the players in the first half. He's young and you normally get inconsistency but he was the best player on the pitch at West Ham but he just didn't get going today. Maybe he's not as ready as we thought yet but you can see he's got what it takes.

We need to loan the lad. He will learn a lot more playing in the Championship than he would for the EDS.

I am certain that City will use its links with New York and Melbourne to send out young players to get regular first team competitive game time playing in the same style that City play.

That way they know they are getting the right coaching and keep a close eye on the player

Not sure about NYFC, but the standards of the A-League would not be of much benefit to him I don't think.

Noticed it against west ham, he need to realise he has gone up a level now and doesn't get as long on the ball as he is probably used to. But I'm confident he will. This will be a good step on his road.

Was shocked to see him come out for the second half. Unbelievably poor yesterday. I would be surprised if he found a man once. Hopefully just a bad day at the office

At least you gave him plenty of time before starting to doubt him.

Fair comment . But he was up against a championship club with injury problems . Would obviously be delighted if he is a fixture in the team 12 months from now . As a counter to a claim to be doubting him ,what about all the posts suggesting we had unearthed the new messi or at the very least comparing him favourably with the rags latest boy wonder ? It is too early to say which was really the point of the first post .

he's clutching his hammy on the tunnel cam at half time.obviously 2 games in quick succession at that tempo was too much to ask from the lad. Lets not put the pressure on him boys, he'll come good.

lopes was one of the few players , who made an effort in the 1st half , but obviously too inexperienced to help turn a 2 goal deficit around , jovetic was excellent when he came on , jovetic could be our "new" january signing , lets hope he can avoid anymore injuries.

Got his first call up to the Portugal U21 squad. Very impressive for an 18 year old who plays in an area with the toughest competition. Hopefully he can get a run out

Well deserved. If this lad doesn't make here we will have failed. Big time.

A quick wiki search shows that there's no players in the usual under 21 squad younger than 20 years old, Marcos turned 18 in December. Anyone know if they've called up a couple of younger players for this game? It's not a friendly and is a qualifier, with Portugal seemingly the best team in their group. Well done Marcos, hope he gets a run out

I think they tend to try and keep batches of similar age players together, with a fair few of last years U19s in that squad. He's one of only two or three to be getting his first call up for the U21s though, as he was a year or two younger than the rest of the U19 team. I think wiki might be a bit out of date, as there's a fair few 19 year olds in there

Didn't play yesterday because we needed experience in the side, I wouldn't mind seeing him have a run out against Wigan but again Wigan are playing their socks off at the minute. Still think he deserves to be on the bench sometimes.
