Mark Halsey is....

Exeter Blue I am here said:
I went to a Mid Sussex Blues OSC Legends night a couple of years ago, when they had Pardoe, Lakey, Brightwell and Halsey as speakers. Very personable that night too.

However, as a ref he sucks big donkey dangles. I've watched him give us nothing whatsoever since Gillingham, with any number of dreadful decisions going against us.....not least at Fulham earlier this season, and there was a 2-1 defeat at Spurs about 5 years ago when I don't think I've ever seen such bias. I want a ref who officiates fairly, not a gum chewing "I'm your mate", who makes it up as he goes along.

Thought Dean was about as near as we get but we've no mates with any of the refs, but they all make it up as they go along. Even that bugger last night was workin' on the principle that if a tackle resulted in a player on the ground it must be a foul. Won't be long before contact is outlawed!

hate to say it with everything thats gone on in his life (on and off the pitch), but that cancer really took his refereeing ability away from him.

will definitely be buying the book though, never read a referee's book

Agreed, used to be a great ref, now seems to make a few mistakes. Not the worst in the league though, plenty of other candidates for that!

I've often thought that since Gillingham he tries so hard to be 'neutral' in City games that he ends up giving a lot of 50-50 decisions against City and by definition ends up favouring the other side.

I take it them that are calling him weren't there in 99? Very similar day to QPR. Poss long term more important to us as a club

When he came to Maine Road the following season the Kippax sang "Theres only one Mark Halsey" How many refs have had their name sang for a good reason at a match?Legend

Thank you Mark

Howard Webb - everytime he ref's at the swamp!!! Speaking of which...

One of the most likeable traits he has is his ability to blend in as one if the boys.
Every other word was fuck , twat , piss off and I like that.
He uses that industrial language on the pitch and I bet a lot of the players respect that.

I was fortunate enough to meet him that's how I will remember it.

Ahh yes. There's nothing I respect more in a person than the inability to speak a single sentence without a swear word in it. If he uses that language on the pitch then the players won't respect him, they'll be irritated by him.

do one nob head...

do I have a problem then

I don't know, I've never met you. Just find it odd that one of the things you like most about him is that he swears every other word.

When you see the likes of Rooney and his ilk swearing constantly at referees I've no issue with a referee swearing at them.
