He is far better than Lescott or Nastasic at present. and All the whailing for missing a slide tackle at the half line is just Silly. Sure he makes mistakes. B ut they are still fewer in number than Nastacic or Lescott's. And he is a sone throw better at so much more, that it is silly to cry a river over it.
If only it was just that one stupid decision of a slide tackle 5 yards inside the opposition's half whilst they're on the break leaving it 5 on 3 in their favour...

He has a tendency to step up, lunge in and over commit. Which would be acceptable if he was as athletic as Kompany but once a player goes past him he's not getting back at him.

I'll never shake the feeling that he has at least one big mistake in him each time he plays.

I agree.

Looks like we need to get another CB soon, if Nastasic can stop giving away silly free kicks and get back to his decent form, he would be ideal to learn alongside Vinny but can he?

Martin is decent back up for us, but really think we should be opting with the tried and tested Vinnie/Nasty partnership which worked wonders last year. Also have to say, the small minority of City fans having a go at a 20 year old lad for a few under-par performances this campaign need to have a serious word with themselves. Matija is widely regarded as one of the top five young defenders in the world at the moment and a certainly a great future asset to this team...we're lucky to have him.

That's probably due to the fact that he makes at least one big mistake pretty much every time he plays.

He made a bunch today & also disappointingly turned his back on the ball on one occasion rather than trying to block it, causing Joe Hart to have to make a pretty decent save.

If you look at Cardiff's best moments in the game, Demi was involved in most of them.

An end of season defensive highlights vid would be interesting.

All our centre backs are important and I would suggest all of them will still be at the club come August when the situation regarding Lescott will be resolved.

Silly to off load any of them in January even if their is interest in Lescott.

I agree, after a decent game the other day, he's again looked very suspect, we need a decent partner for Vinny at the back, his lunging in, so far up the pitch just leaves us open on the left, especially if Kolarov is caught out up the pitch, which happened several times

A rather different analysis of his contribution on here:

FFS don't let the truth get in the way of a good story.

Which is simply why lescott at the moment is vinnie s best partner, because he doesn't do these things, he sits off a bit and tries to keep things simple, normally covers vinnie when he's attacking the ball trying to "nick " it so to speak.
