Re: Demichelis out - six weeks

Onyewu and Boulahrouz are both available on frees so we could still sign them, im sure either would accept a short term deal not sure if they a good enough but would be an option.

I guess a 32 year old has more chance of being injured in general, still shitty luck - but I wish we had put more resources and priority into getting a top quality CB with a bit of pace, I think a top quality CB partner for Kompany is what we lacked last year, with Nastasic still not quite ready to be main man next to Kompany. Time will tell now if we are going to suffer for the lack of priority the club seem to have put into this position over the last 2 summers.

How many CB do we need in the squad ?
We already have Kompany, Nastasic, Lescott, Demichelles , Boyata, Richards and Garcia

Re: Demichelis out - six weeks

I think you need 4! We have Nastasic, Demichelis, Komapany and Lescott, Richard is a right back who can cover centre and Garcia is a Mid who can cover centre back. Boyata I don't think is in Mannys plans Nastasic is just returning from an injury and both Kompany and Demichelis are out for awhile its awful luck and I think we should try and get someone in on a short term deal so we can get everyone back fully fit instead of rushing them back I was worried Nastasic came back so early it was waiting for him to pull up.

Re: Demichelis out - six weeks

Manuel Friedrich available on a free at the moment. Had a falling out with his manager at Bayer Laverkusen and contract not renewed. Ex German international right footed centre back aged 33. Worth a short term contract?
Not sure if he'd be fit enough, that would be the problem in bringing in one of these free agents. It'd take a couple of weeks to get them back up to speed and in that time Vinny's surely back, so I think I've answered my own question!

Onyewu isn't good enough to keep his spot on the USA squad, I doubt he's City's standard even in an emergency situation, bad positioning and very very injury prone. She'll of himself after tearing his ACL

Re: Demichelis out - six weeks

In the words of a famous TV character .................

"I DON'T BELIEVE IT"

Seems like our defenders are all jinxed - or is it a subtle ploy because they don't want to play the high defensive line.

Re: Demichelis out - six weeks

Some of the gutless posters on here shitting themselves at playing fucking Stoke and the Scum at home should hang their heads.
Call yourselves City supporters.
Be assured we will find a way and give a very good account of ourselves in both these games.
I'm sure neither side is looking forward to playing us - injuries or not!
The way some of you go on you'd think we should be crapping ourselves in the tunnel because we're light on centre halves due to some very unfortunate injuries. You can't cover every eventuality but we'll have to make do. Stoke and United have greater worries and weaknesses than we do and their fans know it!

As an American, I have to say that name, Onyewu, Onyewu, sounds familiar ..... oh yeah!!! I thought he was playing in Iceland.

Ha I'm American also and the fact that he's a free agent doesn't surprise me and was actually news to me that he's been let go from a team. Remember Milan bought him after the World Cup only for him to never be featured in a meaningful game?

The fact is our CB situation cost us against Cardiff and nearly cost us against Hull. No one is being gutless just realistic based on recent facts. Given the way our defence has been in the last two games, what makes you so sure it will be a walk in the park against Stoke and the Rags?

Lmao.

This is surprising but the reaction really is over the top. Judging by comments I thought it was either yaya or aguero who was injured. Bizarre as it is that he suffered the injury in such circumstances, the lad is still our fourth choice CB, lescott and nasty are still fit. If either gets injured, then we will need to panick.

How on earth can we sign somebody just a few days ago and then he's out for 6 weeks?

Serves us right for getting rid of Kolo Toure. DUMB ECONOMICS CITY. Were f***** now

We may be f***** but in cae you haven't noticed Toure is also out injured atm.

Re: Demichelis out - six weeks

Injury nothing to do with age. When you get "done" in training by an over eager 17 year old you get "done". Just plain unlucky. Yaya at CB for me unless Micah ready.

Re: Demichelis out - six weeks

The reaction really isn't that surprised, still funny though. However, we've got the rags coming up and our defence looks a shambles. We've conceded three goals on six occasions since Mancini left. Lescott and Nastasic are both left-sided centre-backs and both need leadership to get the best out of them, which is what Demichelis was supposed to be I think. Without that leadership, they aren't half the players, which is why Hull should have been two up after about fifteen minutes. That's what's got people nervous. I've gotten used to feeling comfortable going into derbies and I think that's was a commonly-held feeling. Aside from pride and bragging rights being on the line, the six pointers count. Most teams who win the top four mini league win the title. Let's just hope Kompany's back for it, otherwise I, and most others, understandably will fear the worst.

Re: Demichelis out - six weeks

Negativity has now reached an all time high on BM. Take a deep breath. Think.

1) We will not be making any panic signings to replace De Michelis. The squad lists are already in until January.

2) Great teams will find suprising solutions. Look at Barcelona under Pep. He was forced to play Mascherano at CB. They went on to become European champions.

3) How many games will we play without either Vinny or Micah. Probably three. None of them critical.

The Derby is as ever a one off. By then Pelle will know what our best solution is. That is his job so let's see what he comes up with before we all jump off the cliff.

Lemmings - the lot of you !

PS - it's like all those people who believe we have thrown away the league because we let Barry go. Get a grip FFS. The season has just begun.

Re: Demichelis out - six weeks

its a shame as he would of got a chance to play in the next league game, The injuries will clear up. It might not be as bad as first feared. Depending on how quick he heals it might not be that bad. To be honest we have options we could play Garcia or Rodwell if Richards isnt fit all 3 have played centre back at some time.

Haha but you won't be saying that if we lose the next two games mate.
