Going down to 10 and as a result playing deeper really suited him today. Without the space behind him he was a lot more comfortable and had a good game. We kept a great line, which you'd imagine he was surely responsible for organising. Stayed on his feet today as well, which helps

yep, he is more comfortable in deeper line.

Did we really play deep? I think not held quite a high line for me.

for City we played very deep, played on the 18 yard line.

Played well today overall, but helped by the team playing much deeper than usual to accommodate us having ten men.

You can see why he is in the team over Lescott though because his ball playing abilities are just far superior.

I think in his past lives he's been more suited to teams that play deeper. I think the problem is when we press high up, he gets exposed and his lack of pace (age) creates situations that he makes cock-ups in. I've always respected the guy's pedigree, if not his performances for us, but I'm pleased for him that he was able to show us a some of that pedigree today.
