All booked up, just the one- going to look like a right anorak.

As it's a historical showing can I suggest a dirty mac instead as the Cornerhouse used to be a porn cinema in the late 60s/early 70s, popular with the old gits and hormonal teenage lads. ;-)

Tatler Cinema Club...someone told me.......

Re: Fri 26th April MCFC film night @ Cornerhouse

One of the two Cornerhouse buildings was designed by Charles Swain - the architect who designed Maine Road. Obviously, if I'm going to refer to the building's former uses I might mention that but I think I'll save mention of the other use of the building for another type of show!

Re: Fri 26th April MCFC film night @ Cornerhouse

Just booked a couple and looking forward to a good night out. If you go there at all you have to mention the full history of the building. Could even be used in the typical city thread!!!

I may be wrong but on Oxford Street opposite the current Odeon(is that still there??) there was a News Cinema near to the Caberet Club. Was that the Tatler Cinema Club or is my memory failing. I used to work near bottom of Portland Street in late 1959 - 1962

Tatler is now the cornerhouse cinema on the approach to Oxford Rd station.

That area they've marked for the centre spot memorial - which they'll never get done - isn't in the right spot btw, by matching up various aerial views. But no one really cares now i guess! *muststopofftopicrambling*
It sounds like it'll be a great night, and a sell out, and rightly so. Enjoy :)

I agree - I was there again yesterday. I took a photo of the only remaining part of the stadium enclosure (ignoring the 1966 Social club building) - the last bit of the Kippax/Platt Lane corner wall. I might post it on my facebook/twitter in the next few days.

I haven't been this year, sounds like they've still not done much else - i went about 6 or 7 times last year and no new work happened in all of 2012! I haven't got access to my pics today (diff pc) but have this one from a year ago, i *think* i'm stood on the centre spot and that the north stand goal mouth is in the centre of the pic at the far end where the grass meets the house at the corner. That was from memory of google though hehe, got the aerial proof on the old pc somewhere! That circle they still have fenced off to do the monument is about 6 metres behind me and to the right ;)
Yes, i'm a geek... but you knew that ;)

Wrong thread to do this on, sorry! Very fitting to have this night at the cornerhouse this year, with it being 10 years since the move.

Good picture. I can even see Boyce chipping Joe!

Sorry from the half way line it must have been a volley!

Me and my father in law will be there looking forward to seeing the blues I know like Lee/Ric and some that I don't should be a very interesting night.

Good luck Gary.

Not this looks really interesting. I'm a nostalgia buff and I can immediately recognise unseen and interesting footage. The 76 homecoming is one, and the MErcer interview another.

I will certainly be there for this. Looking forward to it.

Is there a DVD release in the offing or are there too many copywrite issues? I would imagine the latter. I'd imagine a growing market for a DVD version of your latest book, Gary. A visual history of the club. I remember one being made about 10-15 years ago and released by the club, might have been a freebie, I can't quite remember. I even think you were on it as a talking head. Am I imagining this or did it happen?

There won't be a DVD unfortunately. The footage is all available via the NWFA but there are some restrictions on them, so a DVD can't happen unfortunately.

As for the DVD book idea... I've always wanted to do a combined History book/DVD but never managed to find a company with the right resources to do it. The one you are thinking of was by David Clayton I believe. I shouldn't be on that because I've never been interviewed for it.

I was script editor for the history DVD produced in 2001/2 and was a talking head on that - we decided to use me whenever we had a gap that couldn't be filled by a film clip or by another talking head (former player, manager etc.).

I enjoyed script editing that and it led to me writing and producing the 6 part "History of Football" for Channel M - I wish that had been made into a DVD.

The film show at Cornerhouse has taken a lot to put together and we're currently reviewing and editing content. It won't include much match action but some of the stuff that surrounds the club. Got some very interesting material on managerial merry go round in the late 70s (Allison/Book/Bond - none of it from that Granada CITY documentary). Also, colour film of Maine Rd in 1930s; colour film of Bert Trautmann taking a goal kick at Maine Rd; and much more.

what time will it screen ?
