Media bias against City

So you genuinely believe that referees are purposely giving decisions against Manchester City to prevent the club from winning trophies?

I take it you never saw Peter Walton refereeing a City game then? Or wonder why known rags Anthony Taylor and Lee Mason are allowed to referee both City and United games? Or why Michael Oliver turned down 3 stonewall penalties in the home derby and 2 for the most blatant handball you'll ever see when he was looking straight at the incident and Zaba being clattered at Palace? (Or why Oliver gave the rags a penalty at Palace shortly afterwards for a handball he admitted he hadn't seen but said he gave on 'gut instinct'? So much for refs not being able to give decisions if they don't see incidents.) Or why stonewall penalties were waved away by other referees against Stoke with Yaya booked for 'diving' (Mason), at Southampton with Fonte desperately trying to convince the ref he'd clattered Aguero outside the area with Aguero then booked for 'diving', 2 against Hull, another against Villa and so on.

I do. The multiple penalty denials in the first Derby and Yaya and Zaba being booked when cleaned out in the penalty area late on against Stoke and Palace is hard to explain any other way. Add in our ridiculous cards/fouls ratio compared to other teams and I won't be convinced otherwise. It might not be a formal agenda, but there are definitely a few referees that just do not like us and refuse to give us anything unless they've no other choice.

The Derby was appalling refereeing but in fairness the referee had already sent one of their players off which had pretty much decided the game already. If the ref was bent why would he do this?

Earlier in the season we had costa wont get a ban as he will miss the City game. He did.

And I bet Aguero gets a ban for the stamp..He didn't.

Its all about opinions though and I respect the right for you to have yours.

I don't call a 1-0 win with 3 stonewall penalties refused a game that was already decided in the first half. There was no alternative to Smalling's stupid dismissal for two yellows in quick succession. Even van Gaal said so. More to the point is that the penalty turned down right on half time when Yaya was fouled by Rojo when he had a clear goal scoring opportunity should have resulted in a red card for Rojo too which certainly would have decided the game.

In relation to one of my own points did you ever see a City game refereed by Peter Walton and if so what did you make of his performance(s)?

IIRC Rojo injured himself in the 2nd half when he went flying in with a foul that should have been a red card as well.

I do not know that Anthony Taylor or Lee Mason are Rags. Do you actually know this or is this something you have read on a forum?

Over the past two pages alone we have had accusations about Foy, Oliver, Mason, Foy and the Premier League. Chuck in the press, platini, sky, bbc does it not sound a little bit unlikely?

No I never saw Peter Walton. I remember George Courtney against liverpool though early nineties.

You are correct the smalling challenge was blatant, and in my opinion a sending off, however you are claiming the referee was biased and fixing the game. If this was his remit why did he send him off?

Yep and if he hadn't missed, hit the turf and injured himself he would have almost certainly broken Kun's leg and possibly ended his career.

I think with the refs its more a case of the consequences of giving a decision against us isnt as bad as giving a decision against the likes of the rags, dippers and now Chelsea.

Do it against them and you're slagged off in the post match interview, back page of the papers, talking point on tv/radio etc.

Give one against us and it doesnt generate nearly as much negative publicity. Sometimes it seems a bad decision going our way is highlighted more than one going against us.

Only natural when making a 50/50 decision that refs will err on the side that causes them less trouble.

FWIW for all the millions of Man United/Arsenal/Liverpool supporters in the UK it's a surprise that only one or two have reached the ranks of premier league referee.

You could understand why refs would pretend to support someone else, but anyone that would lie about that isnt fit to be a ref imo.

This in a nutshell.. That's why our manager should be more Vocal at having a real go at referees you might get a Ban but in the long run it works, why do you think Fergie and Mourinho always had a go at refs they are not daft!

I agree, there are just too many "coincidences" to be true. too many refs having "poor" games. truth is with the right calls on pens and offsides this season we'd be champions. fact.
