In response to @Damocles tweet about being abused in a pub, which someone posted on here, I've tagged the Football Writers Association in a reply.

It happens a lot more than people think and it's entirely their fault. The only reason I mentioned it was because it had a racial component to it which I thought was stupid. Atmospheres are getting tetchier when this stuff comes out, especially when the actual announcement of the APT challenge came out and there were a ton of stories claiming that City are very literally attempting to kill football.

If you're a passionate football fan and you were told that a club was in a blood war against the sport you love, then you'd probably be angry too. They aren't claiming we're challenging the legality of the rules, in the mind of numerous journalists and their readers, we're challenging the very purity of the game itself. It's a dangerous narrative.

Don’t engage it’s a pointless debating with people who aren’t aware of the facts and simply want City wiped from the face of the earth as their club cannot compete with us, when 115 gets chucked in the bin the helplessness these numpties will feel as they have been hoodwinked by the media and Facebook chat bots into believing we are off to the National league.

In fairness they’ve already squared off the hopefully City positive result by convincing themselves that any positive has been bought and paid for. The PL are corrupt they are certain of our guilt.

Well done. I hope it elicits, at least, some form of response from those who oversee our venal, partial UK sports media (but I won't hold my breath..)

Here's another example, from the back end of last season. I travel to games by train nowadays and often meet up with a local friend and his grown up son who are season ticket holders too. On the way to a match last Spring and wearing their City shirts and scarves, as they approached our station a passing car had its window wound down and the insults 'F**king Blue cheats' and 'F**king Oil Money cheats' were shouted at them.

Both my friend and his son stopped to have a look. This was the signal for the car to stop (on double yellow lines and with other traffic about) with the driver getting out to harangue and even threaten them further.

At this point, my 6ft 4ins pal took out his Police warrant card to tell the herbert concerned to move on, while his even bigger son suggested the same only in slightly more colourful terms. Whether it was the sight of warrant card or the realisation that here were two hefty, handy lads I cannot say but said herbert beat a hasty retreat and continued on to do his shopping or whatever.

The point being as you/Damocles say, this sort of thing is becoming more and more commonplace and its root is, most definitely, to be found in the toxic lies, half-truths and misleading statements made by such as Delaney, Roan, Syed, Harris and so on and so on for decades now, together with the organisations which employ them to spout their ill-informed bile. Who knows what dreadful incident might befall some innocent person as a result of this kind of behaviour being fomented by the media?

They ought to be ashamed of themselves..

Manchester City could move for 26-year-old Sporting Lisbon and Sweden striker Viktor Gyokeres, if Barcelona are able to lure 24-year-old Norway forward Erling Haaland from Etihad Stadium. (Football 365)

On the BBC rumours page

Fucking idiots lol

BBC you say.....................

I take it what they meant to say was World superstar, Ballon D’or contender, record breaking best striker in the world, 24 year old Erling Haaland.

The relationship with LFC is very toxic. Much worse than with United fans. I have been threatened and verbally abused many times, mostly on public transport. It happened three times when I went to Anfield last season. That’s why I’ll never go to there again. Liverpool is the worst fanbase no question.

I agree. And yes it’s easier said than done when some smug little armchair red shirt is spouting nonsense at you, on top of the constant barrage in all sections of the media

virtually all armchair redshirt " supporters " I have ever come across are truly smug, arrogant, and incredibly stupid which of course is the media's perfect target audience.

It helps to cover their own massive insecurities, stupidity and fear of reality. Their very own comfort blanket.

Manipulated beyond belief but too blind to see ...........

C'mon they're the most open-minded, fun loving and friendly supporters you could ever meet, surely ?

What about those famous nights under the Anfield floodlights ?

Genuinely funny and appreciative of everything good in football - whoever that be,
