He’s given them the opportunity to misquote what he said and present those Hillsborough chants as established fact. If the club want to fight this war in a supine way that’s their business, but they have a duty of care to protect us supporters when the need arises, which they have plainly and pitifully failed to do on this occasion.

I feel very let down.
In his defence, having seen the full interview, Pep stressed twice "if the claims are true" but as usual, his comments were distorted. I agree though with your broad point that we have been much too passive as a club. In recent weeks both Neville and Carragher have used the precise phrase "City owned by a state." That is actually something they usually avoid saying directly. It's a lie and has been proven to be one.
When you say City are "owned by a state" you are saying we have published false accounts for the past 13 years. We have one majority owner and two other co-owners. The club's structure is totally different to PSG and Newcastle. So when they say this they are suggesting that Sheikh Mansour can't possibly have his own wealth and investment strategy. The narrative is clear: "He's an Arab. They are all the same. You can't trust them." But Neville and Carragher have not been challenged. They would not say this about Russian or Chinese owners of football clubs.

100% agreed Big Cheese

Our owners are creating a self financing monster through infrastructure, they’re light years behind us, Liverpools infrastructure are Bosè speakers cranking up the volume pre kick off, we are on a different level full stop , we are the model of a new age football club , and they , or United won’t catch us anytime soon.

Talking to a couple of rags in the pub last night, both asked me, what will you do when Pep goes and the wall's come tumbling down. Normally the ultimate pessimist, I replied with the great confidence, we're not going anywhere, we're not run by some Mickey Mouse outfit like the Glazers.

To be perfectly honest I try not to listen to the negative shite as it would wind me up. I remember when we were shite and we still turned up in numbers. In actual fact I kind of think we enjoyed the up and down nature of the club rather than the mediocrity of just hovering around 13th/14th in the PL season after season.

I'm absolutely fine with the takeover. I've never once looked into who owns us. I love every home game. I enjoy us playing the style we play, we're the best team in the best league in the world. Our style is now copied by near enough every club in England - every league. Defenders are now expected to be able to play out instead of the hoof ball stuff we were all brought up with - that's down to us.

I also couldn't give a monkey's chuff about the CL - genuinely. It would be nice to win it just to shut the fannies up, but that's all. It's a cup competition that you can enter even if you finish 20+ points behind the Champions of your own league and if you win it you're the best team in Europe. Yeah, right. As I've said before it's actually akin to calling the FA Cup winners as the best team in England.

So, Spitty and Shit Tash can carry on with their American backed agenda (don't kid yourself that their owners have nothing to do with this - all the talk about oil money actually detracts from something that should be getting very, very close attention - American ownership and how much they take out of the league every season).

So, just enjoy the football and the trophies when we win them. Every now and then watch YouTube videos of the Blackburn and Gillingham games - we were fucking great back then as well.
Great post

Great post and I am sure that sums it up for the majority of City fans. We should enjoy what we have got and nobody knows when these great times may come to an end. Just one question though. If a multi billionaire from the UAE came in and offered to buy either of those red shite clubs, would Spitty and Shit Tash say “no we don’t want them”????

It’s unbelievable that a publication intended for a wide audience can contain such a fundamental factual error. Even if you are pushing a particular argument it shows a complete absence of professional self-respect.
Once you’ve spat at a young girl any pretence of self respect would be just that.

Nail on the head. What really riles our rivals is the way we have invested in the community and infrastructure of East Manchester. FSG and the Glazers do a bare minimum in their local communities. They take money out of their clubs. That's fine if that is their business model.
City's business model is to work with public authorities to transform urban areas, creating houses, schools, and thousands of jobs. They make their profit when the transformation comes to completion. Sheikh Mansour is making profit on every single property he has built in Manchester and has quadrupled the value of Manchester City. As a a 50 per cent partner with Silver Lake he will make profit on every event at the new music arena. And CFG is replicating this sort of model across the world in Shanghai, New York, Melbourne, Mumbai, etc etc.
People like Neville and Carragher can't stomach what is happening because their own clubs are being eclipsed. It will get worse for FSG because Everton are planning to do exactly the same as CFG in North Liverpool's dockland.

I am well aware he said that repeatedly, but that isn’t how it was reported. Like I said, his words gave them the opportunity to twist them.

He should have been briefed to deal with it differently. Like I said, the club has a duty to protect us fans. We are the poor cunts who have to deal with pricks mouthing off about things that simply aren’t true - and not everyone is as well equipped as me to deal with it :-)

Do you not remember the ‘SOS Dubai’ flags at Anfield in the early years of FSG?

Wow has anyone got any pics would love to send them to some arrogant cnuts I know
Take your pick....

You've hit the nail on head there.

Whatever was asked and Pep's response would have been twisted.

It's a no win situation at present this media game.

The big story now from last Sunday is "vile chanting" and "offensive graffiti"

Both minor incidents if indeed they happened as reported!

These things happen every single week at every single match, yet that lot as so eloquently put by Everton fans are "offended by everything and ashamed of nothing"

It's deflection to stear away from their antics, behaviour that continued on Wednesday against West Ham but barely gets a mention.

Some of our supporters are paranoid, of course they are; every club must have them. Isn’t the point that every rational supporter I know can see the press we get for what it is. And that tendentious press coverage doesn’t just extend to the club, but us as supporters. The way these Hillsborough chants have recently been reported vs ‘Lizzie’s in a box‘ being a…err…clear and obvious case in point. It’s an absolute fucking disgrace and unfortunately partly a consequence of the respective club’s media strategies.

We, as supporters, are collateral damage from City’s strategy, basically. It’s why, for the first time since he came, I’m genuinely annoyed with Pep for fuelling that narrative. Fucking fuming actually.
Spot on , Pep should have swerved the question regarding the chants and just referred the hack to the club , Pep did say he didnt here the chanting so why apologise for it ?
Surprised Pep fell for that one he is usually very savvy in his press conferences , but the headlines are now "Pep apologises to the Dippers" and the Dipper victims will lap it up and start another petition.
My brother was at the game and the chants were 99.9% about Heysel only a few idiots at the end of the game chanted about THE SUN being right , but it gave the vermin Dippers hierarchy the chance to state we were chanting about both their tragedies , for the sad tortured Dippers two wrongs do make a right
It will not change , they will get murderers and JFT 39 at the Etihad next year , because they are murderers , its a fact , their fans were sent to jail.
