Mehdi Benatia

Why? Roma is back in the champs league and the players they are moving for are pretty cheap(Sanabria 4mil, Basa 3mil and Keita free) and they made 40 odd mil in last years transfer market by selling Marquinhos, Lamela, Osvaldo, Krkic, Bradley and Stekelenburg. They are in great shape.

Benatia has spoke about other clubs around Europe offering him decent wages and that Roma are not willing to give him a new deal.

If Roma cannot match his wage demands then I see him potentially pushing for a move.

Benatia is at the age now where he will want the best deal at the best possible club for him and it will be interesting to see if Roma can match his demands.

Some media say that Manuels list is as following: sagna, Fernando, benatia and Willy. U guys think?

Sounds pretty accurate. Very happy with the potential signings of Fernando and Benatia, not so sure about Willy though. I think that the backup keeper space should be used on a homegrown player.

If the backup keeper isn't HG then we'll lose 2 foreign trained players from the CL squad instead of (as it looks at the moment) just 1.
As for the other 3, Sagna has already signed a pre-contract and I wouldn't be surprised if Fernando isn't announced today (he's already passed his medical apparently). Benatia would do fine but who knows where we are with a CB.

I'm not expecting much this summer, this sounds about right to me.

I agree......these moves would improve the team but am concerned about Liverpool and Chelsea making bigger steps in the transfer window...we were not that far ahead at the end of the season so cannot afford to stand still......

According to Onda Cero Málaga, Pellegrini has asked City to sign Sagna, Fernando, Benatia & Willy Caballero. One down, should be two soon...

With Cabellero would mean 18 foreign players on the books so one foreign outfield player would either be sold or told not playing prem league football.

If we sign Caballero then I would think Garcia is on the trigger regardless of what his agent says. Cannot think anybody else.

Sounds like you're confusing bigger steps with bigger names. We have a wealth of excellent attacking talent, and just by keeping Aguero fit and having Jovetic ready we're still better than anyone else (And that's not just because of the players we have, but the system we play).

Don't forget what Pellegrini said about his time at Real Madrid - You can't build an orchestra with a load of guitarists. What we needed before the window was a right back, a central defender, better quality in depth at central midfield and another backup keeper due to Pants leaving. We've sorted one, by all accounts have sorted another, backup keeper isn't hugely important and then we just have a centre back to go. Anyone else would swap for our situation.

I agree....getting a central defender has got to be main focus of business now......get that sorted and team is set!;) Just concerned as a CB was an important bit of business for us last season as well and we were not able to fill that need....

if we get benatia ...we will be getting a player at his peak.....and it would be ideal to nastasic and rekik later on to be bought on gradually

with mangala , i dont get that sense...martin will most lijely leave next year....so this would be a great signing...

And im sure we released Lescott and im sure we are not Arsenal. Therefore we need good CB, demichelis is now fourth or third choice.

How the hell do you get a starter last season (who turned out excellent by the way) down into 3rd or 4th place when we've not actually signed anyone?
