Metrolink to / from Etihad

I’m sure it’s something they’ve considered and dismissed for reasons beyond my understanding. But, even though it wouldn’t suit me personally you’d maybe think having Bury- Ashton would make sense? At least that way you’re got one line not reliant on going through Cornbrook.
They need to provide a 6 minute service to Salford Quays and Media City during peak hours on Monday to Saturday. So, they'd still need to find another service via Cornbrook to replace it.

The Cornbrook bottleneck is the reason why Burnham wants to explore an underground line through the city centre, but I'll be dead before that's built...

Burnham will be dead before that gets built, if ever.

Ive
Burnham will be dead before that gets built, if ever.
I’ve heard it discussed many times over the years and the conclusion is always the same. It ain’t happening. A lot of people don’t appreciate just how small Manchester City centre is. The cost will never be justified.

Queue at the Etihad for trams back to town was static for ages. When it began moving we all became Olympic sprinters, utter madness.
The one thing that should definitely not happen is fans thinking the No. 10 match bus to Hale via the pub I go in or my house, is the answer.

;-)

It isn't a 25 minute walk and after a game you can't pick up a head of steam

It wasn't until I had my knee operation that I noticed how many blokes going to and coming away from the ground have limps/walking issues
I’m not a particularly fast walker but I feel like Linford Christie walking back to Piccadilly, more limps than a Viagra clinic

Metro was great last night
Victoria.- St Peters Square - Etihad

Etihad - Gardens stroll over to Market St then onto Victoria Station.
No queues straight through that zig bag thing onto a tram straight away

Perhaps because we only had 60% seats in the stadium taken?

The Metrolink connection we have is not fit for purpose when we have a full crowd and/or a clash with the arena. And then we have the new section to add to the mix. Madness.

Which is of course, massively dangerous. Having the staff bellowing at the bottom "Come on guys! This is leaving in one minute!" encourages people to run, often in the dark, often in the wet, placing pensioners, kids, and the disabled and vulnerable at risk. I'm someone who uses a stick most games and I've taken a tumble down those concrete steps and wound up in A&E the next day as a result of exactly this a couple of seasons ago and it's only got worse since then.

I don't blame those who do run, so much as the way the service is managed so that they are encouraged to do so.

I use the fast track, which at least tends to ensure you're at the front of the wave, but doesn't necessarily save you from the crush to get on. That I can usually handle. I might see if I can get the City Matters disabled rep to raise it.

Absolutely, everything you say is spot on.

I rarely use the tram but you are spot on. Last time I used it I told them it was really dangerous to encourage people to run as others start to push past the slower ones. Quite daft when they’ve held you back for ages at the kiosks too.

Has anyone tried to skip the queue home by getting a tram in the direction of Ashton and then getting off at the next stop, and going over to the other platform ?

Bus to the game was the problem tonight.
For some reason they have stopped using the normal stop to get on and the bus leaves at the same spot as all the other service buses.
