milner can join

Why have Villa said that he can leave only if Manchester City raise their offer above the £20m + they had put on the table previoulsy.

I would have thought that they would say he could leave to join another club the fee was right. Why are they stipulating us? Is nobody else prepared to pay over £20m for him - if that's the case shouldn't it tell us something about his true value? Perhaps Milner only wants to come to City? He might not fancy one of the London clubs, doesn't want to go to a club that may be in too much debt to pay his wages soon and only really fancies playing for us? That'd be nice if that was the case - it's City or no-one.

Please don't let us been seen as mugs who will pay over the odds for any half decent player. Maybe this will give us a chance to show other clubs that we will not be paying whatever they ask. If Villa stick to the ridiculous valuation they have put on Milner they could be left with egg on their face and stuck with a player that made it clear he doesn't want to stay.

Lets see!

Adam Johnson was a bargain....

How much did the Johnson deal work out at? I thought we spent near the 8-10 million for him maybe I am wrong. Which was a risk to take on a championship player which has worked out. Saying that next season will he be up for the competition for places. I know it is going to be a hard season for him this season.

He was £6 million and just live Given he'll have tough competition to get a starting spot this year. Unlike Given, Johnno is young and we'll get a lot more out of him

A top left back and Dzeko thats what we need do not line our competitors pockets unless they are world class

said this all along we should be spending abroad not giving wads of cash to the likes of villa or liverpool to strengthen their squads

I seem to be the only person who doesnt want him
I wouldn't be arsed if we didn't get him either. James Milner isn't going to help any team win the league or Champions League, and that's the class of player we need to be looking at.

^^this.

I think Shay will hold onto the jersey this year again Joe may well have to be content with a bit part role at the club this season used in Cup games but for the bigger games I think Shay is the man.

So in other words we were not "robbed". Ta for that.

I dont think he offers any more than what we already have at the club and we seem to get value for money away from England. The only deal in the England that City got a great deal was for Given the rest we have been robbed.

He certainly was.

Reminds me very much of a young Mike Summerbee.

The thinking behind us going for Milner is that Mancini wants a hard working utility player in the midfield.
He might not be the most glamouros of players but will do his job..The opposite of Robbie we might say.

We need some steel in the squad as well..not just flair ;)

Up our offer to 20,000,002, a packet of Monster Munch (Pickled Onion flavour, mmm), and a can of fizzy Vimto. I reckon O'Neill will jump at that considering he now has to sell Milner or face a stroppy player all season and the potential of Milner's value lowering as a result.

I have a feeling that we´ll try to offload some players as part exchange..
