The price does not matter to us. He is proven, versatile, solid and consistent. A much better bet for us long term than Gerrard.

Always rated him and he would be a great signing if we can get him. He can play in a variety of positions, has a good engine, sets up and scores goals. He is still young and English which is important with the new squad rules.

And, he only has 2 years of his contract left. Villa are trying to negotiate this... If the let it go down to 18 months etc his value will go down quite a lot. If he wants to go they will have to sell.
