Villa fan here.

O'Neill does not usually talk to the press about transfers. This very much sounds like a deal has probably already been agreed. Milner is back from holiday this weekend.

This is O'Neill's way of breaking it to the Villa fans.

This is so much different to the Barry/Liverpool saga with deadlines and anger. It seems more cordial (maybe players involved later down the line).

I expect the deal to be at the £24m mark by Monday/Tuesday.

Although I doubt O'Neill likes the prospect of losing players of the calibre of Milner, I think the relationship between ourselves and your club with regards to potential transfers is very good. The Barry deal was done with the minimum of fuss and later on in that window you signed Dunne from us.

O'Neill isn't daft - if someone comes in with a very good offer for one of his players and he can see that player's head being turned then instead of pointlessly digging his heels in until the last minute like Moyes did last year with Lescott, he'd sooner get it done so he can concentrate on who to bring in.

Strongest team:

Wow, look at the average age aswell, are there any 30 year old's in that team?

Only Given, who should be replaced by Hart anyway. :P

Nice lineup but the lack of Adam Johnson makes me cry, hopefully he isn't sat on the bench half the season after the breakthrough he had.

Fantastic signing, great attitude - keeps his head down and wants to improve. As already stated,he could become a legend here, definitely captain material (although i hope Kompany has say about that!)

Pricewise - 20m or 25m - irrelevant to us,although he will be worth every penny.

Yes thats why he'll be a good player nothing more. City can do alot better than Milner.

That's plain wrong: he was one of the top 5 midfield players in the league last season according to the Actim index and one of the top 20 according to the Castrol rankings.

IMO don't need De Jong in there for a lot of games this season. Great at what he does but I don't think we will need him much.

Not much width in that team either so amended for you ;o)

That's the team for me.

The boy does not set the price. Rio Ferdinand was not worth £19m when Leeds paid West Ham.

Manure and another £30m transfer later, proves you must pay top dollar for what can be perceived as a great talent in the making.

People are liars if they are saying Rooney was worth £30m at the age of 18.

He wasn't, but he's worth triple now.

My only point is, when we are at Stoke on a pissing Wednesday night, these are the type of quality additions that make the difference.

Was he not PFA Young Player of The Year last season.

In recent seasons, recipients have included Rooney and Fabregas.

He is at the right age to progress. He's a good player now...he could become a great one, if this is only for City, that'll do me fine.

I'm not too hung up on worldwide perception of what makes a supposed world class player.

I've formed an opinion long ago, that De Rossi, Totti, Trezequet, Izaghi.

Vastly Overrated. Yet gasps from the gallery.

It's all subjective.
