I think the Milner saga is the perfect time to make an example. In truth, if we miss out on this player it's no big loss imo. Ya, I'd like to have him, but he is not the difference between winning and losing out on titles this season.
Walking away from Milner and Villa will allow City a feather in their cap when they sit and negotiate this January for players, next summer and in the years to come. i.e. this is our bid. you don't like it we walk away. we did with Villa and we will do it again!
