Most Important City Goals

Very tough to answer as if the earliest doesn’t happen neither do the others, a single goal that got us to playoffs for Dickov to score for example

One I always remember was Dzekos late goal v Notts County the year we win FA cup

Or Kolarov's late free kick to salvage a point against the Mackems in the run in in 2012. Without that, there's no 93:20.

We had a massive cull after we got relegated in 1998 and the biggest earner was Pollock £3k a week and oldest player 28 Goater. We were told we were in a very good position at the start of the season if we went up or not. Bernstein overplayed the importance after, just as 2 years later he said Royle's job was safe and sacked him within a few days.
£3k a week for Jamie seems a lot, maybe it was his reward for 'that' goal?
To be fair to Mr Pollock he did at least seem to try when at City. This is unlike certain players we can all think of who 'played' for City in later years whose surnames both begin with M and are both now 'successful '(??!!) pundits.

Totally agree with this. The thread is about the last 10 years I know, but had Dickov (and Horlock, as someone else has commented)not scored we would have spent another season at least in the 3rd tier, (look at Sunderland now!) It may have taken a few years for the good times to kick in but that goal was undoubtedly the most important goal in our recent history. Even in the short term we had another couple of hugely enjoyable promotion seasons that brought back some long forgotten 'good vibes' (2000/2001 maybe wasn't great as we clearly weren't ready for the top flight yet)
It has been documented many times that the move to the new ground and all that followed would definitely have been in jeopardy were it not for Dickov's 95th minute goal at Wembley.
The first title win in 2012 certainly will very probably never be matched in terms of emotion or drama (both for of us or the Premier League itself) However, I do feel we still would have gone on to have had a similair level of success soon afterwards.
We ofcourse won the Prem again 2 years later, and had we not won it in 2012 I feel we would have won it in 2013 as we would have had 'The bit between our teeth' as we would have not have effectively conceded it to what was a fairly ordinary Rags side(with the exception of Van Persie to be fair).
Blues of a certain age I doubt will ever feel that Dickov's goal will be taken over (I'm avoiding the use of 'bettered' obviously here)in terms of importance.
Van Persie was the difference in that season. The board allowed him to go to the scum and effectively hung Mancini out to dry that transfer window.

We'd have won the league back to back and never tossed away that FA Cup Final.

Dickovs goal at Wembley and sergios will always be the most important. I think Dickovs and Goaters arm v Wigan in the play off semifinals have to be up there. Especially the first leg after conceding after 20 seconds then we seemed to have 100 shots on goal, I thought it was going to be typical city. Goaters was more a relief as the tension in the ground that night was unbelievable.

Not a goal as such, but can we have a honourable mention for Edin Dzeko's shameless shithousing away to Everton in 2014? His rolling around on his arse for 20 mins when there was absolutely nothing wrong with him played a big part in winning us the title and cementing Pellegrini's place as the first zombie to win the league.Screenshot 2022-01-13 at 11.38.46.png
