Most underrated City player ever?

In the 13/14 season Javi Garcia was a dependable defensive midfielder. I think it was against Hull when Kompany got sent off and Garcia had to fill in at centre back and he did his job pretty well.
About the best game he played.

The marker of open spaces, he wasn't underrated he was just shite.

Now Barry in the same role, he was underrated at City and England.

I also hold my hands up to doing this very thing, until I read that David Silva said he was his favourite player or most important player, it was a while ago now but I took more notice of the things he did for the team.

The fact we deemed him to old and slow to compete for a place in our team and he then went and made a similar amount of appearance for Everton was nothing short of amazing tbh.

I thought he would have made a good manager as well but he obviously didn't need the stress lol

Paul Stewart, anyone? Anyone..? A goal every other game, and the sweetest piece of business (bought for £200K, sold for £2 million barely a year later) that Swales ever signed off.

I was a kid, right enough, but remembered Stewart being strong, very direct, and a nightmare for defenders when he was running at them. The Anti-Kinsey, in fact.

He was a recognised superstar in that team, but his penalties were a bit Pep era.

Paul bosvelt got a bit of stick at the time, but I thought he was a solid, reliable midfielder. Gave us more stability when he was there, had a good, quiet, understated influence.

Most of our fans still think Fernando is a piece of shit, instead of one of the best midfielders in Spain. Not fitting in this team doesn’t mean they’re bad.

My vote is for Neil Young, Criminally underrated and disposed of like a used Kleenex. Loved this club and scored a decent number of goals, including 21 in the title-winning team of 1967-68. One of our own, born in Fallowfield, but not 'sexy' enough for some, including Allison, but also many fans.

totally although in fairness I think alot of what he did unless you are watching football live you wouldn't see he just provided that outlet and passed the ball on as you day nothing flashy just time and time again
Barry rarely gave the ball away particularly in key moments ...i.e. when we had just scored. His technical ability and strength made it hard for the opposition and took the sting out of many "cone back attempts'. Vital for us and best i have seen at City in that role. I have a few mates who are Villa fans (but suprisingly normal). They all mourned Barry leaving.

Cue Southampton away getting a mention.lol.

Last 5-6 years only.

Gundogan suffered stupid criticisms before January 2021. Compare the opinion about him before 2021 and after May 2022 when he won us yet another title. Night and day.

Right now the most underrated City player is Cancelo. You can probably see more criticisms of Cancelo on here than on red forums. Weird.
