The problem with the likes of shearer and Hansen is they are old school, they've never moved with the times. They see football as a fast attacking wing play, defenders that like to crunch tackle and forwards that are fast and strong. To some extent I can understand Shearer, but Hansen should know better.
Sadly it's pundits like them that have kept the developement of the game in the UK to an embarrassment when it comes to the international scene, we've slipped majorly behind as others have gone from strength to strength.
Dinosaur's in a modern world.
A couple of years ago we beat 4-1 Villa at our place and Mario was having a row with some Villa fans a few minutes before he put us in front. The MOTD pundits went with the Mad Mario routine and spent a few minutes discussing his temperament. They said nowt new but it was easy for them.
Dutch TV showed how he made space, discussed the technique for his goal and concentrated on the footballing aspects of his game. Kids and coaches in Holland had the benefit of analysis that showed what a footballer should be doing. Perhaps Greg Dyke should consider the shite produced by the media when he gets his commission up and running.
