Classic.
Because he will jump ship and we will head into the same crap every other club he managed has? Porto are second fiddle in their league, Chelsea have become something of a joke, Real Madrid almost did it last year but couldn't get over the final hurdle but they are a shadow of their team last year and Inter just 12 months after parting company with Mourinho and having their most successful season in many years, finished 6th, barely managing the Europa League...
Arguably the only team that has had any lasting effect thanks to Mourinho is Chelsea and they have virtually unlimited resources anyway so their success is more down to the money than Mourinho. Look at Inter, Mourinho leaves and they capitulate, this shows that he is a great manager but also he is a mercenary out to answer only to himself.
What about planning for the future, putting in a football philosophy which will run a generation, Barcelona have always been one of those teams that compete at the very heights, a couple of years ago they won every trophy in every competition they entered and all of that with a team of nearly 5-6 Catalans. The new people in charge at city are overseeing the biggest academy build in the country, a world class academy, we need a manager who will influence the way players are brought up, the way we play has to be ingrained into them and we will reap the rewards in the future.
Mourinho will stand for none of this, his input into the academy will be very minimal, just look at the young talent he brings through at Real Madrid... Thats right none! He will demand the highest wages, the best players at the highest cost and then give us a few good seasons and then he'll leave, where do we go from there, this club is worth more than that.
We have the resources to win the Champions League very easily, but to build our club into what the owner expects takes more than winning a trophy, it's about building something more and having the right people in charge who will care is important.
My vote goes with Mancini because of what he has done so far but it also would second go with Guardiola who has something to not only prove but also he would give the young lads a chance and he will put some of the best players in the world on the pitch with them. Having that experience would only result in one thing.
