We currently have 3 Sides of the Ground that make little or no noise .........The only noise comes from the Blocks immediately next to the Away Fans ............It has always been that way .............

At Maine Road the Main Stand never sung ................The North Stand never sung (Started to when the Away Fans were Re Housed there ) The Platt Lane never sung and in all honesty only the far end of the Kippax sung as they were next to the Away Fans in the cage .......

The club has instigated a Singing Section on either side of the Away fans which is commendable .
But i just dont accept that it will ever become a "cauldron of noise" It never was and since the advent of all seater stadia took hold the decibals in every ground has decreased dramatically .

Putting 2 singers sections together wont affect the other 3 sides of the ground in my opinion.

CTH - your right, moving 1 or 2 blocks will not have a massive effect on the atmosphere.

if this ever does happen, which i cant see it ever doing, there will be alot of unhappy city fans who will have to relocate around the stadium - possibly to worse seats than they currently have.

the only way it will work is if say they move the away fans to the east stand 3rd tier, all season ticket holders vote who sit up there vote whether they are for or against the idea and whether or not they are willing to move seats.

people like me who have sat up there ever since we moved to CoMS would be furious if i was made to move to another part of the stadium, but a vote for the fans effected by the move would be the only option to whether or not it ever happens

There's some truth in that, CHT, and at times Maine Road has a shit atmosphere.

But for big games much of the rest of the ground would join in with the bigger songs. When the North stand got going, as it had a low roof, it was so loud that the song would spread around the ground. Now the stadium's so vast that a song in the South stand can hardly be heard from the far end of the stadium.

Also, having 2 tiers is a big problem. These are the reasons why we need the songs which do start to be louder.

The people in the singing areas are in the shittest seats in the ground already.

i agree with that, but thats just our opinions, some people like to be sat low down though or in the corners of the ground, everyone has differnt opinions on views around the ground.

thats why i have said the only logical way for this is to get a plan of where to move away fans, then the season ticket holders in the blocks where the plans are to move them, have a vote for or against the idea

A vote would be a logistical nightmare, that's got to be a non-starter.

it isn't that big a deal to move seats - if someone told me my block was off limits I'd just find another good place to sit.

If, as has been suggested, the away fans just moved to the other half of the South stand, then everyone in there could just be allocated the mirror image of there own seat.

I actually agree with CHT that we are never going to have a cauldron of noise. But we could get better, no doubt.

why would a vote be a nightmare? that why the people who are effected by it would get the final say, which is fair if there the ones that are going to be moved?

Another suggestion, would be for some type of open day at the ground for the fans who are interested in raising the atmosphere to attend.

Surely this could be implemented by the club, I for one would be willing.

That's not a bad idea, maybe they could liase with The Blue Alliance who want the same thing.

It's workable and could also help with a few improvements in the ground. Give it a trial run of what happens on a match day for example and get members of City's board to do the rounds and see what goes on, at the bars, stewarding etc.

Just get an overall view from the fans, banners added, brighten the place up a bit. Don't want us going daft on it though, just try to make it a bit more like HOME!
