Nasri

A vast majority of Bluemooners believe that Nasri isn't "tough enough" to play as a midfielder and then wonder why Scottie Parker was once England Captain.

Nasri is a deep lying CM. If you pair him with Garcia with Yaya ahead of them you have quite an intelligent (and mobile) unit. Mancini will simply not drop a striker to make this work. And it will become our undoing if he doesn't change his mindset.

In the Premier League, the likes of Everton will just flatten that & run straight though us. Be fine when we've got the ball, but as soon as we lose it..Garcia v 5 opposition players.

Re: 20m for Nasri

Selling Nasri shouldn't be anywhere near the priority IMO. I would like to see Kolarov, Sinclair, Maicon, Lescott, Barry, Kolo, Dzeko and Tevez (in that order) out of the door before him.
But i would sell Nasri too if there is a serious offer from PSG or someone else.

Re: 20m for Nasri

It seems most of us thinks Nasri can do better as a CM, and Mancini is the only one who thinks that Nasri should keep playing as a winger.

No way he's moving to Paris. It's the rival club to his and Paris fans would definitely not want him to join. (He's been in some kind of war with The media from that city -lequipe and leparisien- and has been only talking to Marseille's media)

If He goes back to France it would rather be the new rich Monaco (they are known to have interest in him and Tevez) or Marseille (his former club) if they can afford him.

He doesn't care about loyalty, he'd move to Tottenham if they paid him right.
I disagree with you but that wasn't my main point. I was considering the probability of him joining Paris..

After the way Arsenal fans have been treating him for a year and a half now, I'd expect him not to have any loyalty to Arsenal.

But his relationship with Marseille is more specific. His family is still there, his folks still go to the stadium. And Nasri said he still watches every single game he can.

Back in June 2008, he had only one year left on his contract with Marseille and He signed a new deal just to help Marseille get a better deal on his transfer to Arsenal (Marseille ended up selling him for 17 M instead of 3/4 M).

In 2011, PSG were proposing him a good pay and it would have done him a lot of good to play there and definitely ensure his starting spot in the French national squad. He simply never negotiated with PSG, he negotiated with us, negotiated with Rags (Evra did some lobbying too), with 2 italian squads (Juventus and Inter) ; finally Vieira and Mancini convinced him to join us...

It wasn't an easy decision coming to City with no starting spot guaranteed (Which undermined his Euro 2012 participation chances). He had to earn that starting spot last year and he did just that, and let's not forget He kind of helped us grab the title with decisive goals vs Chelsea, spurs and a great game in the most important of derbies.

Of course If we can replace him with a better player, I hope we shift him but I'm not expecting 20 M deal as things are going right now (we're damaging his image and so damaging his market worth) and I don't expect Paris to try to land him. The PSG fans don't like him, not only for his bounds with Marseille but also because Paris Media have been treating him like crap.

If Mancini is staying and is really not willing to retain Nasri next season, I'd expect him to go on loan to France (Monaco or Marseille) or Italy (Juventus, Milan or Inter).

Not exactly.. Yesterday he played as CM when brought on, and he played in Silva's "10" position at the beginning of the season. Remember Southampton and Chelsea in the Community Shield.

I think he can do good on the wing though when he does the right runs and gets the the through balls.. Remember how he was destroying Newcastle before he picked up that injury.

This was what Neville was pointing out about Arsenal's attack. They always had a midfield runner that scores goals and if time gives, they usually end up being legends for the club.

They had Vieira, Pires, Bergkamp, Overmars, Fabregas, Nasri and then most recently, Wilshere.

IMO, this is the way we should set-up Nasri, as a penetrative attacking midfielder, in order to get the best out of Nasri. After Fab left, Nasri started scoring for fun because he had replace Fab as the midfield runner.
