Nathan Ake

Certainly not, I have previous postings as to my own view on his abilities.

He might look better in Chelsea's system, but he stands out for his lack of technical ability and defending high.

Nathan doesn't trust himself to pass inside, so his go-to is jamming the left-back in with a safe pass. Aerially, certainly when attacking the ball, excellent.

Irony is, his best game in a City shirt was against Atletico Madrid at home when he was playing on the left, because he wasn't worried about players running in behind him.

I have the same concerns about Laporte when it comes to it, defending high, always wanting to get touch tight because they don't want a foot race.

Eric, however, is much more suited because he is brilliant in possession.

If we are getting £50m plus for a fourth-placed defender who isn't bothered either way if he stays or leaves, certainly due to his former ties to Chelsea, I see no reason to lose any sleep over it.

A fourth CB replacement could be an outstanding youth prospect or a seasoned veteran?
Ok fair enough, but let me asknyou thus Tolmie, How much did we pay for him, wasn't it 40m to 50m anyway. So what's the point if selling him for roughly the same money, unless we have someone better lined up as 4th choice for less. Which would seem pretty unlikely as very good defenders cost £40m plus and they don't want to be 4th choice.

I don't think we need a fourth CB worth 40-50 million. A Pablo Mari/Johnny Evans type would be fine. Someone with PL experience on the older side who can fill a gap when needed. That's it.

couldn't disagree more, as an out and out defender he's the best we have, positionally excellent, exellent in the air, knows when to tackle, knows when to stand off (laporte could learn a lot from him in that respect).

I'll concede he's not the most comfortable of our back 4 on the ball, nor the most creative of passers, but those are abilities low on the list of a centre half.........usually

If ake goes we are seriously weak at the back , by that I mean in numbers would only be an injury or two away from another defensive crisis like last season .

3 cbs in Dias stones laporte for 2 positions
3 fullbacks in Walker cancelo zinchenko for 2 positions

Cucurella is a must , and with past injury records of of our 3 cbs I would also think another cb would be a priority.

Mbete will come good, but we need two lefts backs not one. First choice world class player and a sprog with pace. Z deserves the chance to play more in midfield.
