Totally agree with this. Last season at home to Liverpool I saw a Middle Eastern lad who'd clearly never been to the the stadium before, sat in the corporate seats in the Colin Bell stand (typical) and before kick off just stood up and starting waving at everyone. Must have thought he fucking owns the club or summat.

I hope you told the arrogant so-and-so he's not wanted or needed at the club!

I,ve been following city 41 yrs but I am always happy to introduce potential new fans to the club. Although born and bred in saford (grandad was a blue ) i now live near Torquay. I brought 3 Devonians with me for the villareal game one of them a newbie/tourist. He did all the tourist sights Mary D,s Tonys chippy city store / square and took pictures throughout the trip enjoying all aspects of the "city experience" . If it wasnt for lads like these contributing to the cost of the journey this lifelong blue wouldnt be able to get up to games. As for my other 2 passengers last night they are well into their 6th season of making the 520 mile round trip.

long story, but in condensed version. I started following football seriously after the 2010 WC, before that i was a casual fan. In the 90s every1 loved utd and i wasn't part of it, so i can relate a bit to city fans in the 90s during the utd craze.

Well after following football a bit during the WC, I saw a lot of anti-city articles everywhere, there was this team owned by an Arab from the UAE (i'm from Q8 we're close) and chaired by an Arab and they were getting some serious vitriol by the media. I was drawn, started following them then and there. Glad to see that in one part of Manchester, Arabs aren't the obvious terrorists but are actually thought of positively. Now that i know about the history and what the club went through, and getting to know a couple of the fans on twitter and blue moon well how can't you love City!!!

First thing I noticed when I got in the ground last night was the amount of tourists taking an unreal and ridiculous amount of photos, while wearing a half and half scarf!

One of them even tried throwing me out of my seat, claiming it was his, when his was clearly the one next to mine...this is my season ticket seat you fucking bellwhaft! His mate was infront of us so he wanted to be 'nearer' to him (?!?!?!?!)

Anyway, nearer to kick off, this group of about 15 people (all wearing snide City shirts) went to the front and had a big photo together and then started some chant of their own...WTF?! Why the fuck are you chanting something which has no fucking relevance to City whatsoever? It's like me turning up to Anfield and singing my own song!

The amount of times I heard this blokes' camera was doing my head in...I was going to sleep with the noise in my head!

It's embarrassing that we have 'fans' like the OP. You don't understand what City are, nor appreciate the history of this club. You're as big as an embarrassment to the club as the Green and Gold are to United. You run off ranting to yourself without a trace of irony whilst SPECTACULARLY missing the point of why City are special and what differentiates us from those over the road.

cheers, i actually understand were the OP is coming from, I'm sure it wasn't easy supporting City in the 90s, in my high school every1, except me and a couple of m8s, were Utd and Arsenal crazy and this is in Q8.

Last summer i had to go back home to see family, but hopefully i'll try to visit England and especially Manchester maybe this summer, last time i went to England was when i was 12 years old with my mom and gran and I only saw london, all i remember is the big red buses. Hopefully i can make it early summer and catch a couple of games with the Mrs.

Eh its comments like this that really piss me off. I was born and raised in Australia, but have been supporting City for over a decade. At the Wigan away game last year I just amount lost my shit (many of the other City supporters around me were moaning for a good percentage of the match) when Toure scored and tried to run over the fence, before a few other lads got escorted away. It was my second ever City game. Am I not allowed to sit in the bottom tier when I come back to Manchester next year?

You're free to do whatever you want. But I just can't understand why you wouldn't want to follow your local team.

For many of us (me included), supporting a football club is not about the quality of the football, more a community thing, going to the game with lads you grew up with and share identical backgrounds. That's where the solidarity comes from.
