Newcastle vs City pre match Thread

There's a possibility we feel fairly confident of a win and decide to rest a few players... not many, but just enough to lose a bit of our edge.
We go into the game expecting to win with our slightly weakened team and with players who are nervous of getting injured for the CL games.
Then we have Newcastle bouyed by their Swansea result and playing for their PL survival.

We should win this game, but complacency is our enemy as it has been too many times this season. We should stop going into games assuming we will win, but go into them expecting to win if we give 100%.

I wouldn't underrate our performance yesterday as Chelsea hadn't lost in EPL at home under GH prior to the game. Then again, they weren't under pressure but we were, knowing that man u had closed the gap. Considering how poor we have been at times this season vs worse opposition and that even though Chelsea are in a difficult time, still have world class or near world class players in their ranks, I'll say kudos to the CBs, our Brazilian wonder, the big fella, our front 4 and indeed everyone else. That said, id like them to maintain their focus in the
remaining games. In fact if this fixture was to be played 2 months ago, with our patchy form at the time, the best we would've gotten would've been a scrappy draw but hey we did win away vs Chelsea at a Stamford bridge by 3 unreplied goals. I have no complaints whatsoever. The boys deserve some praise as this was no straight forward game by any stretch.
It's well documented that KDB'S return
and then Nasri's turned our season around for good but we have not realized that KDBs playing in the hole is another factor to our renaissance of late. This guy is a chance creating machine and I only wish MP had tried this earlier. Be that as it may we have a task of finishing on a very strong note even though I think the title is all but gone.

It was great result at Chelsea, but it looked like a pre-season game compared to the Norwich Sunderland game. There might have been some great periods of passing but it was played with very little commitment. I hope City's players realise what it's going to be like at SJP. We need an early goal to deflate them and take the heat out of the game
I think we made it look easy. Thanks to our red hot form

the mere fact they have to win means they have to come at us, and will open vast swathes of space for us to exploit their dodgy back line.

get it right as we should and we could win by a least couple

It will be tense I think as Newcastle will desperately want to get something from the game. I think we'll nick a one nil win with kdb getting it and dragging us over the line

It did look easy eventually but early on it was pretty even, and it had an end of season feel. It did not look like a City v Chelsea game. We took them apart and embarrassed them, but they did not compete. In comparison the relegation scraps were on a different level.

All the comments elsewhere about Newcastle being rubbish miss the point. Yes they have been rubbish for 95% of the season, but these teams (Villa apart) can play like supermen at this time of the season. Suddenly they realise what's at stake and there are no other games to follow.

think we need to be careful of a team fighting relegation, weird shit happens, but any performance even half as good as Saturday's should see us win

I think we will win comfortably if we set up to counter attack and let them come on to us. Whether Pellers gives Newcastle sufficient credit to set up in that way is the key.

A strong team for this but I disagree that we should play on the counter. We should look to control possession and the game, keep their fans quiet and give them nothing to play for. It's a huge game for Newcastle and we need to take the sting out of it by limiting their time on the ball and in our half.

Win this one then make some changes for Stoke at home ahead of the Madrid game. If we win the next two we're in an excellent position for making the top 3/4.

MP: I’m happy for Kun that he is scoring, he’s playing often, he’s not had injuries in the second half of season. #mcfc

MP: Vincent will be an important help for the defence. It’s been a very important season and we have to keep fighting for important things.

MP: Newcaslte are very dangerous, they have good players, St James' Park is difficult and they need all the points to not get relegated.
