Having a central defender as captain works because they can see the full picture - in Vinnie's case we have an articulate, intelligent, academic. intimidating (in the right way) and charismatic figure that no-one in world football can bully. The entire team looks up to him. A midfield captain can dictate proceedings and decide to adjust things if necessary. Strikers as captains - usually nothing more than ceremonial (like an Honorary degree) - e.g. Shearer.

KDB should get it. He is already the leader on the pitch and by far the most vocal. He seems to have the kind of personality that will thrive on the responsibility.

Totally agree about Kev. He is our captain on the field right now. John Stones does have all the attributes to be a fantastic future captain though IMHO.

Agree about DeBruyne but you're not watching Stones closely enough if you think he hasn't got the personality to be captain, he's been very vocal on the pitch this season.
