Germany might be best footballing league tomorrow but they won't be marketable as Premier League and La Liga are in 100 years.

Bayern and Dortmund are only marketable teams there and they will never reach what United/Arsenal/Liverpool/Chelsea and now City with it's local rivalry with most popular world's club could. Then there're Spurs who are popular too, even Everton has that something..

Same with La Liga and the biggest and most popular football rivalry on the World. Even Italy has more clubs that are more marketable than leverkusens, stuttgarts, schalkes etc..

Current Bundesliga's 4th and 5th clubs are Eintracht Frankfurt and Freiburg. You really think anyone outside Germany gives a flying one about such clubs? Not even close - complete lack of that factor x that would trigger worldwide popularity. I don't know many people that would reserve saturday afternoon to watch - Freiburg vs frankfurt. I certainly wouldn't.

There are just clubs that doesn't have that something to kick football fans worldwide. Clubs like Leverkusen or Valencia who used to play CL finals never really gained any popularity globally while Napoli who barely had done anything except beating City and Chelsea did.

Very Anglo centric views.
The EPL are more or less the same. There aren't many quality teams. It is hard to claim that even the top 5 play skilful, or beautiful football. I don't rate football played by the Rags highly, for example.
Many think that the Bundesliga will be the next best league in the world.

If he'll join Bayern he could win 6 or 7 trophies in next 3 years so why not?

Strange that the Bundesliga is overall already making more money than Serie A or La Liga. How's that possible? And the league isn't even close to its peak, the growth every year is incredible and will continue.

Anglocentric? :)

If you read it carefully, footballing aspect was not the center of my post, more marketing one. Freiburg vs Frankfurt triggers an interest as much as Polonia vs Wisla. Or Stoke vs Aston Villa. You don't really buy pop corn and wait for those.

Though, quality of German football is so overrated that Frankfurt and Freiburg are on 4th and 5th position in Bundesliga. Premier League counterparts Chelsea and Arsenal would rip them apart.

Bundesliga is not Bayern and Dortmund and it looks to me that most people that see one of those think it is. Bundesliga is Monchengladbach who finished 4th last season and failed to qualify to Champions League and that's exactly what would happen to Freiburg and Frankfurt.

Teams like Tottenham, Chelsea, City aren't a huge global success right now because of their own history. They are attracting fans all over the world because of the popularity of the premier league. 10 to 15 years ago it was different. If the Bundesliga continues to play on a very high level teams like Schalke, Hamburg, Frankfurt or Gladbach will attract fans all over the world again. After all we're talking about teams that won european competitions in the past. They have a rich history in the footballing world. Of course it takes time, but if you look at the Bundesliga 5 years ago and compare it to now, you'll see what happened and what's possible. In 2008 no one would have believed that Bayern arguably is the best team in the world in 2013 and Dortmund can beat the english and spanish champion, that the Bundesliga surpassed the total revenue of Serie A and La Liga despite having only 18 teams compared to the 20 in Italy and Spain. Bayern has the biggest commercial revenue of all football clubs ahead of Real Madrid. Saying that the Bundesliga won't be as marketable as La Liga in 100 years is plain wrong, hell it's wrong right now and with the financial development in Spain it would be shocking if La Liga turns it around in the near future. Of course the premier league is still way ahead, no one denies that but that's a different story and the gap isn't as big as it was 5 years ago.

No, they will not. Just as Leverkusen didn't after playing CL final.

Chelsea are popular because they continuously have one of best world's squads and will continue to have it under Abramovich. City just started to do the same.

City, Tottenham, Everton etc. will always trigger interest as they are on one or another way the rivals to some of world's most popular football clubs and they all together are rivals to extremely popular club Rags are. City would never have success marketing and growth wise as it did and as it will without being rags city rivals. That's why ADUG picked it and that's why they were exploring option to buy Everton.

That level of rivalry and competition will never happen at Bundesliga as Bayern are and always will be miles in front of their competition and current Bundesliga ownership regulative is taking care that it won't change ever.

Playing good football, having full stadiums, performing well in Europa League is not what rises popularity. Just as having beautiful voice alone won't make you to hit top of charts. There is that "something else" that's needed and Bundesliga just don't have that "something else" compared to Premier League and are too, too late in their attempts to challenge it.

As someone else noted before, another advantage of Premier League is language. English is widely spoken all over the world and fans are able to follow news from original sources or discuss it with people from all over the world much easier than with German ones and that continuous connection is something that make you more and more connected..

Bundesliga doesn't have a chance to challenge Premier League marketing value. Period.
