NHS being recommended 1% pay rise

The eye is in Leeds and Kirklees for the other stuff

father in law couldnt get a appointment that’s Bradford

so coz West Yorks NHS has slowed down - bear in mind early doors how bad they Covid cases were near you then you offered that up as proof that the NHS has been shut. Why do you think appts were hard to get? For the most part its because a lot of staff drafted in to help. Lass on our street who's an NHS occupational therapist with a back ground in nursing was asked to go on the Covid ward at Capt Cook Hospital and my sister - a geriatric nurse likewise. That would mean a possible reduction in provision where they were originally and thats probably what has happened for you

My industry (shipping) has no unions sadly.
Just have to accept things.
Could have done with unions and organisations to help to be honest as over the years in other jobs (same industry) I've been bullied, intimidated and done probably thousands of unpaid overtime.
Why do I do it? I have to keep a job, single men are totally discriminated against in this country. The government doesn't care.

what shipping role do you do ?

They could give all the NHS nurses a 15% pst rise and it would cost less than

75% of PPE contracts awarded to Tory donors

4% of Test & Trace

1% of HS2

0.5% of the cost of Brexit (so far)

This isn’t the COVID political thread and don’t want to derail an important topic, but where does your 75% come from?

The above isn’t a pro Tory article and uncovers £500m which isn’t anywhere near 75%. Out of that article the only one that raised an eyebrow for me was the Miller Designs. All these “middle men” companies need their excess profits taxed at 100%, fucking chancers.

There is also a bigger change occurring and that is the mentality towards the NHS from people who actually use it regularly.

We all clapped for them, we all are horrified by the lack of real change this govt has introduced for them. Essentially taking the piss. But the lack of investment is leading to a real crisis in the care and that is leading to complaints.

My Mum has been undergoing cancer treatment throughout this pamdemic and it has been horrific. No departments are communicating and she is having to chase up appointments. She went in and had a nurse carry out a breat examination to check for lumps. Fine you might think... well had they read the notes they would have seen she had breast cancer years ago and a double mastectomy and was in for bowel cancer treatment!

They're destroying the NHS to the point where society will change its mindset and believe privatisation to be a better option to get a better service. And much like the voting culture, if some suffer as a result then so be it.

I hope there is a real change and we don't stand for it. But this is the UK. We moan amd whinge and then do fuck all. If this was the French they'd shut the hospitals down and refuse to open them until they increased pay by a fair and rewarding proportion. If they did that hear, right now, we would probably turn on the staff for doing that! But the govt would have driven them to.

I’m sorry to hear about your mum mate. I hope she beats it.

Communication, or lack of it, is the biggest cause of complaints. To your specific experience that sounds like a failing in the staff, they should have read the notes and there are no excuses for not doing so - it’s a basic and fundamental nursing task. You might want to think about speaking to the PALs team at your mums trust, if they haven’t been made aware of these things they can’t put things right.

Good luck to your mum and to you all

I have a house i let out and invest , in my field I get company van and overtime so in that sense I’m ok
So you are slagging off public sector pensions, not many public sector workers get a vehicle or access to overtime. All jobs have their perks.
